Anakin woke up feeling very weird. It was like he hadn't eaten, slept, or drank in weeks. He was like a skeleton walking around all skin and bones. He felt weak and helpless. He spent the first two days after waking up sleeping and waking up to only eat and drink. When he returned to school he was confused, when did he get into a fight when he was asleep. It was at that moment he felt a light go on in his head. It was the other personalities, or in this case, the Sith Lord. Anakin swore his day couldn't get any wor... Actually it could get a lot worse.
Anakin was meditating while listening to the holocron when his bison went white. When it came back he was in a nice black suit. It looked very Mandalorian but with hints of Nubian. He walked until he saw someone. He saw Padmé in a wedding dress. Her hair was down and curly the way he always liked it. She looked like a Goddess among Women. He immediately smiled when he saw her but it quickly went away when he felt something cold. Before he could react he saw a red lightsaber go through her chest. As soon as he saw it he heard Sidious cackle as he fell through the floor and woke up in his little kid body again.
The vision worried Anakin. He felt like he did when he dreamt of his mother, when he dreamt of Padmé. He felt as helpless as a slave again. A slave, that's all he seems to be at every turn. A slave to Gardula, a slave to Watto, a slave to the Jedi code, a slave to Sidious and that horrible death suit. He was furious but also sad. He wanted to cry and scream all at once. He just wanted to wake up in Padmé's apartment. Anakin wanted to wake up with Padmé in his arms and hear the soft sound of a child's feet. The feet of his little daughter, the feet of his little Leia.
Leia, the same name of the Princess of Alderaan. She looked just like Padmé. She had her eyes, her hair, even her height. She may have been short but she was always ready to stand up for herself. Something in him always felt wrong when he thought about how he tortured her. It had been so long since he had thought about his dead daughter. The one he killed.
"Ani what's wrong?" Shmi asked with concern on her face when she noticed her young son sobbing on his bed. Anakin simply responded by hugging her and crying into her chest. He wished he wasn't so fucked up. He fucked everything up by believing Sidious. All he had to do was help Windu kill Sidious but instead he chose the darkness. That darkness took all of the light away from his life. Obi-Wan, Padmé, his little angel not yet born, and Ahsoka. And it left him all alone inside of a suit made for him to suffer. Suffer like he should for what he did to his little angel.
He cried until he couldn't cry anymore. His body wouldn't let him cry anymore. "Ani I can only help you if you tell me what's wrong. Please Ani tell me what's wrong." Shim was very worried for her son. She didn't want to admit it but he was different. She always said it was just him leaving Tatooine and no longer being owned. Sadly she knew that wasn't the case. Anakin had changed and Shmi didn't know what happened to make him so sad, so angry, and so distant. She watched as he put his head on her stomach.
"I can feel her. She's so bright, so beautiful. She's like the suns of Tatooine." Anakin smiled and looked at his mother.
"How do you know Ani?" Shmi smiled as she listened to her son.
"It's the force mother. It's what the Jedi have, it's what makes them different from everyone." Anakin now was smiling widely and leaned as far into the touch as he could go.
"I always knew you were special Ani. But what is it that made you so upset." Shmi's smile turned into a frown.
"I'm scared, something is coming, and it feels cold and dark." Anakin said softly and scared. Lying to his mother was not something he liked to do. In this moment , however, it was the only thing Anakin could do. He immediately turned away from his mothers arms and went under the covers of his bed. No longer able to sit in her arms comfortably after his lie.
Shim knew Anakin was lying. It wasn't something he often did but she wouldn't push tonight. Too much had happened since he woke up and she didn't want to start another problem. "Don't worry Ani, I'm sure nothing will happen. And if it does, you can always look for me and Jango." Shmi kissed him on the forehead and said goodnight. Shim did not fully believe that things would be okay. It was her job, however, to be strong for her son and to make him feel safe, secure, and comfortable.
Shmi walked back to her bedroom and took out a picture she got off the holopad of Anakin and her at a podrace when he was just a few years old. When she had moved to Mandalore she had searched for pictures of her and him online to remember the times from when it was just them on Tatooine. He had a huge smile on his face watching the racers go through the course. Even from a young age he was always happy. Now everything was different. Shmi could say he was just growing up but that would be a change that took way longer.
Shmi put the photo away and held her hand on her growing baby. Ani was saying it was a girl, and if Shmi knew anything, it was that Anakin was always correct in these moments. She would have to come up with names for her. Both her and Jango together. One name she thought about when she didn't know what Anakin was gonna be was Aisha. She knew Jango would have some thoughts of his own but there was no way to speak with him right now. She could only sleep now and wait until tomorrow.
The door at the Skywalker household opened to the sight of Jango in his Mandolorian armor and little Boba in his arms. Shmi walked up to him and kissed Boba on the forehead before hugging Jango. "Darling, are you alright?" Jango had never seen Shmi so worried in her life. "It's Anakin, Jango. He was crying last night and he keeps straying further and further away from me. I don't know what is happening to him. His attitude has done a complete 180. Ani was always talkative, happy, and excited." Shmi put her head down and let Jango hold her and Boba.
Jango didn't know what to say. He was not very close to Anakin and he doubted Anakin would listen to him. Anakin always clung to his mother whenever he was around Jango. They had talked a few times and Jango had shown him the Slave I but they never interacted much. The only thing he could do was hold her close to him. "I don't know how much of a help I could be to Ani Shmi. If I was you, I wouldn't force him into talking. Try to make your conversations simple. Wait until he's ready to talk and come back to you. Kids don't act like us. If I had to guess, his actions are based on a new found freedom. Not an action of maturity or a reaction to new worlds. His actions are based on a new sense of privacy and independence. He loves you more than anything else in the galaxy. Well maybe he loves the Queen of Naboo more but you know what I mean." Jango smiled as Shmi chuckled from his comment about the Queen.
"He does have a crush on her doesn't he." Shmi smiled remembering how her son had told her he would marry her. She said to him that he would have to wait till he's grown up to marry her. All he said in response was that he would marry her when he wasn't a little boy anymore.
"So darling, tell me how are you and our little one doing on this beautiful day here on Mandalore?" Jango stepped away from her and led her to the couch in the middle of the living room.
"I feel great besides the whole Anakin thing. I'm starting to think it's a girl, so is Anakin." Shmi smiled and let Jango rest his hand on her stomach. At that moment they felt movement inside of her and a small little kick. Shmi let out a gasp at the sight.
Jango smiled and bent down to kiss her stomach. Even little Boba on the floor in front of them was reaching his little arms towards his sibling. Jango picked him up and let him feel the baby move. Boba let out soft giggles at the feeling of the baby's soft movements. When Anakin was in her womb, the movements were rough and uncomfortable. These movements, however, felt almost normal and felt like nothing but a soft tingle in her stomach.
Jango knew constantly sneaking into Mandalore when Shmi had no idea he wasn't allowed here to begin with would make her upset. She would probably kick him out and make him leave to make sure he would stay safe somewhere where he wasn't wanted for being too violent and being a threat to Mandalore. But he needed to make sure Shmi and Anakin were safe. He didn't have much of a family and he wasn't going to let his best chance at one slip away from him.
