How a mafia boss goes home to his wife.

Bang!

The blaring sound of gunshot was what startled Kaveh from his sleep.

"It's close." Said the blonde as he moved away from the comfort of his bed to check the backyard of the house from the window. His gaze turned from the window to the wall clock on top of the door. "Where's Haiyi? He's late."

'1:15 AM'

Alhaitham glanced at his watched before clicking his tongue in annoyance. "I wanna go home."

He grumbled under his breathe. He wants to go home and cuddle his spouse in their comforting bed. He would watch his lover sleep as he waits for the sun to rise and be the first one to witness the smile on his lover's face. Like every goddamn day.

"I want to go home too." Cyno let out a loud whine beside him. "You're not the only one with a wife waiting at home here."

"So, I guess we should hurry up then."

It was a rare occasion for these two to be seen around together. Albeit many people considered them as friends, these two hardly see each other as one. Rivals, they would consider. Friends? Most unlikely.

I mean afterall, from their occupation alone, they already are hardly considered friends.

A detective and a godfather of the underworld mafia of Sumeru.

It spat blood no matter how much you see it.

But they got along.

Probably because they have one thing in common.

"Did you tell your wife where you would be officer?"

"Told him I have the night patrol as a regular policeman." replied the detective "And you? What did you tell your wife?"

"That the meeting has so many complications my boss asked me to stay behind and review all the data I've compiled for the past few weeks."

'Boss my ass!' The white haired detective could only roll his eyes. 'There's no boss of you and if there is, it's your wife.'

Yes, the two did not spill a single grain of truth to their wives.

'I wanna go home so bad!' The two thought in unison as they dodge an incoming bullet their way.

"Tch. Just die already old man!" Unfortunately, they just can't. The guy their chasing is known for the cause of why crime rate is utterly high in Sumeru nowadays.

He is the head of the organisation called Azar. Known for human trafficking, drug dealing, slavery, and most things that are breaching Sumeru's rules.

Detective Cyno's people are in charge of stopping this organisation in the frontlines. From the reports that can be relayed to the citizens of Sumeru, to the punishment and sanctions imposed on those in the wrong, the Matra Department under Cyno is known to handle it all.

Alhaitham's organization on the other hand, albeit under the title of a "Mafia organization", Scribe is an organization of the underworld that focuses on ensuring that the underworld is still abiding by the condition given to them by the Law of Sumeru. Scribe is known to handle things that the Matra cannot cover and majority of it is at most, unclean or cannot be resolved by the law.

From the status alone, these two are like oil and water, can never be mixed no matter how much you stir. The relationship of the two organization also started out strained. If strained means them shooting at each other at first sight is strained, then it is what it is.
