October 31-Hell's Kitchen, New York

Music played a little louder than normal. Where the same ten people usually sat every night, the bar was filled to capacity. It was always like this on Halloween. It wasn't like Thanksgiving or Christmas where people stayed inside with their families. Halloween was what brought people out on the streets and into various bars. Your bar.

You and Matt had made plans to dress up as a devil and an angel. You thought it was quite fitting for you. He didn't give much of an argument. You spent the whole night waiting for him to walk in, but he never showed. Even after Foggy and Karen came in .

"Foggy?" You asked as you walked up to their table. "Where's Matt?"

"He said he'd be with you."

"He hasn't shown up yet. And he hasn't been answering my calls or texts. Do you think something happened to him?"

"I'm sure he's fine. I bet he's just wrapping up some work stuff." Karen said.

"Now? It's Halloween."

"You know Matt." Foggy told you. "Always working."

"Yeah, you're probably right."

You smiled and went back to behind the bar. You weren't convinced. Something was wrong.

The hallway grew cold as you stood in front of Matt's door waiting for it to open. It was 2:13 in the morning. Where as you would usually be out on patrol, here you were banging on your boyfriend's door. Boyfriend...you made a mental note to talk to him about that later.

'What if he is just at the office?' You thought to yourself. 'Or what if he tripped in the shower, or left the oven on?

You bolted down the stairs and ran into the alley towards the fire escape. You made your way up the stairs until you saw the window of his apartment cracked open.

"Matt!" You exclaimed as you saw him laying on the floor.

You pushed the window up and got into the apartment as quickly as you could. You turned him over on his back and cradled his head. His pulse was faint, but still there. He had some bruises and cuts on his face, but the most prominent one was on his stomach. It took you a while to lift him up onto the couch, but you got it done.

You searched around for a first aid kit until you found it under the bathroom sink. You took his clothes off of him and got to work. The stitches weren't the best, but they did their job. All the nights of patching yourself up when Shani was sleeping paid off and saved his life.

You sat on the chair across him the couch watching him as he slept. Due to your fight or flight response kicking in, you didn't even notice what he was wearing. You looked over at his discarded clothes on the floor. There was thick red boots that matched his suit. A suit that you had seen before. And a horned helmet laying by the window.

"Holy shit."

It was late morning when he woke up. You were making coffee in the kitchen when he stumbled off the couch.

"Don't try to get up." You sat him back down and handed him a cup of coffee. "Careful. It's hot."

"Thank you." He took a sip and rested back against the couch.

"How do you feel?"

"Like shit. How do I look?"

"You want me to be honest?"

"Please."

"Sexy as hell."

He chuckled softly but then ended up clutching his stomach.

"Did you give me these stitches?"

"Yeah. They're not the best."

"How did you get in here?"

"You were supposed to meet me at the bar last night. So when you didn't show, I got worried."

"Tess-"

"I went up your fire escape and the window was already open. I saw you on the floor, and I panicked."

"Did you-"

"I saw. I know. It's okay."

"You're not mad?"

"No. There's actually something I need to tell you." You took a deep breath and held his hands. "I'm-"

"The Angel of Death."

"What?"

"I know."

"How do you know?"

"Your shampoo has a very distinct smell."

"You can smell my shampoo?"

"I can smell the eggs being cooked two floors above us."

"I'm a little lost. I thought Daredevil could just hear really well."

"I can. I can also smell, feel, and taste a lot more than everyone else."

"So, you're not blind?"

"I'm blind, Tess. My other senses got heightened after my accident."

"But you don't need the cane?"

"No."

"Hm." You said to yourself. "Come on, I'll help you wash up."

"I don't think I can go to work."

"You're not. I'm gonna stay here and nurse you back to health."

"Does that include a sexy costume?"

"You missed the sexy costume. You were too busy bleeding out on the floor."

"Next time."

You knelt in front of Matt while he sat on the bed. He took a sharp breath in and tightly held onto the sheets.

"Okay. I'm done." You said as you finished changing his bandage.

"Thank you." He sighed as he laid down on the bed.

"No problem. You hungry? I'm no five star chef, but I can make something edible."

"That's okay. There's a pretty good Indian place not too far from here. I'll order in."

"Sounds good."

"You can come up here you know."

"Right. Sorry." You climbed onto the bed and gently rested your head on his chest. "Am I hurting you?"

"No."

"Good."

"Even if you were, I'm not gonna tell my girlfriend to move."

"Girlfriend?"

"I mean...if that's what you want?"

You kissed him softly and smiled.

"Yeah. It's what I want."
