My name is [Name]. Four years ago, I was bitten by a radioactive spider, and since then, I've been the one and only Spider-Man. Well—at least, that's what I thought. Turns out, things are never that simple. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

You probably know the basics: saved people, fell in love, saved the city—then saved it again. And again. And again. But if you want to understand how I got here... well, that's gonna take some explaining.

"Fuck—seriously? Not now."

You cursed under your breath, staring at the phone screen. The message was blunt, almost indifferent: Due to unforeseen circumstances, we regret to inform you that your employment has been terminated, effective immediately.

It wasn't even your fault. You just had the bad luck of working for a company that got caught up in some shady business. The cops busted them, and everyone got laid off—just like that. You sighed, shoving your phone into your pocket as you climbed the stairs to your apartment.

Then, as if the universe wasn't done screwing you over, you spotted a notice taped to your door.

NOTICE: Please vacate the premises as soon as possible. The landlord is no longer willing to make repairs, and the building has been deemed unsafe. Any concerns, please contact xxx-xxxx-xxx.

You stared at the words, then let out a humorless laugh.

"Oh, come on. You've gotta be fucking kidding me."

Fired and evicted, all in the same day. If luck existed, yours had been thrown off a bridge years ago.

Your phone vibrated in your hand, breaking you from your thoughts. It was your best friend.

"Hey, what's up?" you answered, trying—and failing—to sound casual.

"Nothing much, just making sure you're not passed out drunk in a gutter somewhere." They laughed.

"Hey! That was one time," you shot back, shaking your head.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. You good though? For real?"

You hesitated. You hated dumping your problems on other people. But, right now? You needed help more than anything.

"Not really. Got fired today. And now my landlord's kicking me out."

There was silence on the other end for half a second before your friend responded.

"I'm coming to get you. Right now."

"Wait, you don't have to—" Click. They'd already hung up.

You sighed, but deep down, you were grateful. No matter how much you protested, they weren't going to take no for an answer.

You arrived at your friend's apartment, dragging your few belongings inside. It wasn't much—just the essentials, plus a few things you'd held onto over the years. At least it meant you wouldn't take up too much space.

As you stacked the last box on the porch, your friend hesitated at the door, scratching the back of their neck.

"Sooo... I definitely forgot to mention something," they said, lowering their voice.

You raised a brow. "What?"

"We're not the only ones living here. It's a three-person apartment."

"Okay? That's fine."
