Killian POV

∞∞∞∞∞

Esmee send me pictures of her friends hanging out. Little house parties, dinners and going to the movies. I've felt envy towards every person who was simply in her mere presence. I feel envy towards every person that laid eyes on her. Knowing her beauty.

I am not going to deny it.

I hate it. I hate in my bones how amazing she is simply because other people will see it too and try to steal her away from me.

I am jealous of other people that make her laugh.

I am jealous of the people that make her angry.

I am jealous of every person that dares to raise an emotion inside of her. An emotion that is not inflicted by me.

So the past few days were torture on an entirely other level.

There was no pain from separation. No fear, no anxiety.

No, just primal jealousy.

It was comforting knowing that Dimitri and Benjamin were with her every move.

But it is absolute horror when you realize that your bodyguard gets to see your girlfriend more than you do.

In what kind of messed up world do we live? I am the only man that gets all Esmee her time. And now Benjamin and Dimitri are the ones who hear her stories, hear her laughs, see her angelic face, know about her problems.

I groan out loud and sit back in my chair in my office.

I turn around and look at the city beneath me.

Humans walk on the streets like ants. Not knowing that they all work to subconsciously give all their money to people like me. People in power.

Human working machines.

I used to have very little respect for those creatures.

But knowing Esmee is realizing that maybe they aren't so bad after all.

A small percentage at least.

A sudden noise interrupts my very busy schedule of staring out of the window like an ungrateful and broody toddler. The life of a billionaire.

My phone lights up and Esmee her father's name comes up.

I press accept.

'Jeroen.' I speak first.

'Killian, great to hear from you.' The man with the unimpressed voice speaks on the other side.

'Likewise.' I just sound as uninterested, 'How is Esmee?' I try not to sound too hopeful.

'Good, good. Very good. She is more social lately. Seems to smile more. Is singing all the time. She is a great girl.' Her father speaks out.

'Great to hear.' I mumble back. She sings? I did not know she could sing. Of course she can sing, this is Esmee we are talking about.

And now I am even jealous of her father.

'Why did you call Mister van der Burg?' I question.

'O yes. I wanted to know where we are standing on the deal?'

O yes. The famous deal. Since Esmee left, I dove in to work to distract myself. Only to realize that I made a promise to Jeroen to get in contact for a business deal.
