I was upset, yes, but Eros was trying his hardest to cheer me up. Months of hard work and practise gone away like it was nothing, and I was furious.
But then, I was also afraid. Of Eros. Of what he could do.
I saw him kill two people without a second thought and it scared me more than anything. He was heartless, he said so himself, but he loved me, and I trusted him to keep me safe.
"What is my little wife thinking of so early in the morning?" I heard his raspy and groggy voice from beside me as he wrapped his arm around me gently, careful not to hurt me.
And I loved him for it.
"Nothing important." I said quietly, not once looking at him as I played with a loose thread on the hospital blanket. His hand covered mine after a few quiet moments and I sighed.
"Look at me, darling." He urged quietly and I felt my bottom lip quiver when he turned me to him.
"Tell me what's wrong. Talk to me, baby." He cooed and I sniffled, shaking my head as I stared into his lifeless orbs and when I felt the tears were about to spill, I hid my face in his neck and away from his view as my tears fell.
"It's okay, darling. Everything is going to be just fine." He rubbed up and down my back and kissed the top of my head while I cried.
"Tell me what the problem is, and I'll fix it for you." He said.
"You can't." I hiccupped when he pulled away from me to look into my teary eyes.
"I will bring everyone to their knees for you, destroy worlds for you. I'd kill anyone who threatened your safety or happiness. Tell me what's wrong." He said firmly, his hand cupping my cheek.
"I worked so hard, Eros. So much, days and nights, and look at what's happened now." I said through sobs and saw his eyes soften sympathetically.
"I can't dance just because some stupid maids were jealous that I was your wife. It's not my fault I'm married to you!" I said furiously and saw him purse his lips.
"You're right. It's not your fault you're married to me." He muttered and I realised how he must have perceived this and immediately felt bad.
"T-That's not what I meant, Eros. I don't regret marrying you, but I also didn't deserve this did I?" I said, running my hand through his hair when he hummed, kissing my forehead.
"I know, baby." He murmured.
"And I'll make everything right, I promise you." He said darkly and I nodded once before shoving my face into his chest and finding comfort in his arms.
Noah and Vanessa came in the afternoon to see me after school with lots of balloons and flowers and snacks that I loved. I still had all the snacks Eros got me, and now my stash was more than full.
"-and then Axel scored so much and looked so cool doing it." Noah told me about a basketball game at school today when I smiled.
"That's nice. And what about your game?" I asked when he grinned like a Cheshire cat.
