The next couple of days were pretty eventful for the Van Der Linde gang, they had somewhat figured out where they were in this new land, a land so far south that racism was still a big deal, even the Lemoyne Raiders were found out to be a bunch of old Civil war fighters who never stopped fighting. Dutch and Hosea had been working the area of sorts and it was found out that there was two huge plantation families down this way, and everybody saw them in a different light depending in who you asked.

There was the Gray family, who along with one family member being the town Sheriff in Rhodes, owned a big plantation in Caliga Hall. They were often regarded as nice and hardworking people in the town. The other family was the Braithwaites, a bunch of ex-slavers who lived a bit more in the countryside but were seen more as the bad guys with their illegal moonshine trading with the Raiders and many other things. Long story short it seemed that the two families had been at war with each other for a long time and rumour had it, that there was gold in the middle of it.

This of course atrracted the Attention of the gang, especially Dutch since he was always saying how they needed money and he figured Hosea would be perfect for this since he was the best scam artist Dutch knew. In the meantime, the other members of the gang such as Jack, all the women and Pearson and Miss Grimshaw seemed to have settled in nicely to the new camp. However things weren't always happy around the camp.

Molly and Dutch's relationship seemed to be starting to crack away at the seams...and quite often they could be heard arguining in their tent or spending time away from each other. It was clear that Molly really cared for Dutch but not so clear if he ever truly felt the same way about her. John and Abigail would also occassionally fight or argue about either their relationship or John being a father to Jack, for the most part it was the latter always. Lemny and Tilly, had a bit of a hard time settling into the new camp as it was hard for two African Americans to be happy or feel welcome in this land so far south.

Sadie had also gotten a bit more cheerful around the camp, although she still mostly kept to herself and still always seemed so angry and pissed off especially in how she carried herself and her facial expression at times. However she seemed happier, she was more free and took up guard duty on the camp a few times whilst also maintaining some more caring duties such as feeding the chicken coup. One day, whilst the rest of the gang was trying to find out more about this family war and find a way to earn money out of it, she had decided to go on guard duty and possibly even a bit of hunting for Pearson if she could.

As she began walking away from the camp, Simon spotted her and quickly caught up to her "Sadie-I mean Mrs Adler!" He yelled causing Sadie to turn around and look at him and gave him a bit of that usual mischievous grin and smile she had "Simon, I think you have known me long enough that you can call me Sadie by now." She said with a slight and soft chuckle. Simon nodded slightly standing next to her now:"Right sorry, I just wasnt sure..I thought it best to be respectful especially since Jake..-" He said softly only to be interrupted by Sadie.

"Its alright, call me Sadie please..now why did you stop me?" She said making a quick turn and starting to walk towards the copse of trees on the camps perimeter again. Simon started walking with her having his Lancaster rifle over his shoulder: "Well, I was hoping to join you on guard duty, if you'll let me?" He said with a little hopeful smile. Sadie chuckled softly again "That depends, you think you can handle yourself tough guy?" She giggled slightly continuing to walk with him.

Simon smiled and couldnt help but let out a soft laugh at her little teasing of him: "I'm sure I can, and I wont bother asking if you can out of fear you'll shoot me." Sadie chuckled and so did Simon and gave Simon a small look and nod of the head "Probably wise, but you can join me then."

Simon nodded and the two soon arrived at a decent spot just outside the main trail in and out of camp but still hidden away in the trees from the main road and took up positions on seperate sides on the road incase any trouble came by. Sadie stood ready holding her custom carbine repeater now with a dark walnut varnish, backened steel metal and a leather wrap, whilst Simon stood on the other side of the trail with his brass and blackened steel lancaster with an ebony wood finish and some engraving on the stock.

"Well heres hoping this goes smoothly." Simon said keeping his focus ahead of him. Sadie glanced over at him and smiled mischievously almost a smirk "Aw, but then its not fun..I hope somebody tries something so I can shoot them!" She said turning her head back to the road.

Simon let out a little chuckle but it seemed nervous "You know some people including me right now might think you are crazy saying something like that?" He said to which Sadie responded "Now you sound like Arthur and even Jake sometimes" She said with a hint of sadness in her voice although she masked it very well, Simon could hear it and he saw how her facial expression changed slightly as well. He could tell she was still hurting deep inside even if she did a hell of a job not showing it to anyone anymore.

The rest of thier guard duty which lasted about 3 or 4 hours of the day was spent in an almost unbearably awkward silence, the only words spoken was when someone needed to go since nature was calling, as they were nearing the end of their shift..Sadie spotted what happened to be movement in the trees. She quickly aimed and cocked her repeater at it squiting slightly as she aimed.

Simon quickly looked over at her raising his gun assuming it was danger. "Sadie, what is-" BANG

Sadie had fired her gun, the smoke from the cartridge slowly coming out the barrel, she cocked her gun again and as the empty cartridge fell to the ground, she smirked completely dismissing Simon's question and began walking off. Simon unsure whether to follow decided to just wait in his spot to see if she came back. Which she sure did.

She came back holding up a dead rabbit by its legs, her repeater slung over her shoulder and smirking. "Well, this will help Pearson." She said and began walking off ignoring Simon complerely and back into camp. Simon let out a deep exhale of relief and shook his head lightly and slung his gun over his shoulder as well and began walking back to camp after her. "She sure is something." Simon thought to himself as he walked back and watched Sadie hand the rabbit to Pearson as he went ro sit by the campfire.

Sadie on the other hand went to sit by the water and lit up a cigarette and sat on one of the rocks having a smoke, whilst Simon sat quietly at the campfire and began to quietly think.

(Ending here, I will focus a little more on the story of the game next part, explain some more of the events between the Greys and the Breaithwaites and hiw the gangs involved so that in the part after we could possibly get to almost the end of chapter 3 of the game. Thanks for reading and sorry for typos. Love y'all🙏❤️)
