"Aurora, sweetie," My mom's soft voice gently wakes me from my nap. I turn my head to where the sounds come from and smile when I see her. "Are you up for a visitor?"

I immediately feel a lump in my throat, afraid my mom is going to say that Lando is here again. I don't want to see him; I don't want to be in one room with him.

My mom notices my hesitation, "It is Caitlin. Caitlin is here to see you."

"Caitlin?" I ask, confused. "Caitlin from work?"

My mom nods, "You and her have gotten quite close, but I am sure she is better at filling in the blanks."

New information. Caitlin and I have gotten close.

Maybe she can tell me more about... No. I don't need more horrific stories about my relationship with him. I should be glad I've forgotten them.

"Hey, girlie," Caitlin says as she walks in. She has definitely aged— In a good way. Her skin has gotten clearer; her hair is longer and no longer that fake blonde colour.

"Hey," I say with a smile, shifting slightly to make room on my bed. "How are you?"

"I'm fine; you are my main concern right now. You two scared the crap out of me," She sits next to me. "Can I give you a hug?"

More new information: Caitlin and I apparently hug.

"It's fine," She says and smiles. "I've got a lot to tell you, but maybe it is better if you ask questions, and I will answer them for you. Truthfully."

I open my mouth, only to close it again. What kind of question do I even ask now?

"So, it is 2024?" Is the first question that leaves my lips, and Caitlin nods.

"Do you... do we still work at the coffee shop?"

"I do," She replies with a smile. "You just quit three months ago and were planning to move to Monaco to start your architecture career there."

"Monaco?"

"Yeah, with Lando."

Caitlin says it as if it is the simplest thing in the world as if I hadn't broken up with him over a month ago.

As if he didn't abuse me.

"But then I broke up with Lando," I say, doubting my own sentence. "Right?"
