THE SILENCE THAT captures the living room is most definitely a comforting one, with the gentle background music fading between chris and matt's ears and the delicate symphony of the fireplace's sparks greeting the tranquillity as though a dear friend. the existence is natural, completely mindless as the two of them continue to dwell on their individuality. the soft breathing they undergo is the only other thing making an appearance and has been for a while. it's a scene that has replayed many a times before, whether between the brothers or simply with other members in the house, all in all it has been peaceful. so, even now as they remain wordless and thoughtless, they don't quite seem to mind, easily permitting the music to engulf them.

the silence only lasts so long because for some strangely agonising reason, river refuses to buy spotify premium and so the song that is about to play is interrupted by the short advert. now it's comically really because matt never pays any mind to the adverts, waiting on his phone until the voices stop and another song plays but the start of this specific advert snatches his attention instantly. it starts with what he assumes is a snippet from an artist's song just like many before but this time, he finds he rather likes the sound of it so he keeps listening. it isn't until he hears a specific name, knocking him off his feet, that he nothing but gapes at the realisation. surely he has to be mistaken but well, he's aware she's always wanted to be a singer and so this sort of slots into place. it just makes sense for his immediate thought to be the correct thought.

he looks to chris to see if his brother has noticed what he has but chris is merely texting away on his phone, most likely texting rena though she's only left to go to the store for ten minutes. chris and rena are practically attached to the hip and have been since the very day they became boyfriend and girlfriend so everyone is used to it but matt wishes that for even a second, chris would focus on his surroundings so that maybe he can confirm what matt is sure he just heard and assure him that he isn't going utterly crazy.
