Now I thought I would give you a little idea on Sophie's new little life and even Jasper's.
SOPHIE!!!!!!! Three years later!!!!
" Goodnight Al." I told my manager as I left the little bistro. I was on close up duty tonight.
" Goodnight Amy !" Smiling at how my boss always made his regular kind goodbye. With that I closed the door and walked out of the alley. Unlocking my blue and green town bike I hopped on and started peddling down the dark road.
Fifteen minutes later I was riding up into my parents drive way. No I didn't live with my parents I lived in the apartment above to which I payed rent. I grew up in a wonderful family. With two sisters and a brother. Plus two wonderful parents. A lovely mother and an amazing father. We all lived happily in Paris France. Yes Paris! I worked at an amazing french bistro. Life for me has always seemed to be on a one way track to success.
Still deep down it was weird. I felt like something just wasn't right. Like there was someone I was missing. Even though I had an amazing boyfriend. His name was Blake. He said he had known me for a while but I just couldn't remember him because I refused to give him my time. Oh well. He is mine now and he is amazing. Still there was something missing.
" Hey mom!" I said as I entered the kitchen. She was sitting at the kitchen table in her nightgown looking at the newspaper.
" Hello sweetheart. How was work?" She asked not even looking up from the comics page.
" It was good. Long but still good. Joan never showed up for work again. If this keeps up I swear Al is going to fire her! Oh and at about lunch time we had this really weird customer. He sat back in our shady single booth. Al served him himself. He said he was a very important person. Rich, and powerful. It was creepy though I felt like i could feel his gaze on me. All I can say is I hope he doesn't come back. He stayed for like about 4 hours. " When I looked up from the sandwich I had just got done preparing my mothers face was staring me looking quite concerned.
" Well sounds like a handful of a night Amy. A shower and a good nights sleep will do just the trick I am sure." I could see there was something that was putting her off but still I nodded and left to go to my apartment. Sleep and rest would make all well. I had a date in the morning with Blake. He wanted to take me out to break feast before he headed off to work. He was going to be the CEO of his fathers company one day.
I crawled into bed after I finished everything up and went to sleep.
The worst thing about my sleep is I had the worst dreams. Dreams of a man with no face. Locking me in a dungeon and telling me he was sorry.
Soon I was fast asleep.
Jasper!!!!!! Three years later also.
I knew I shouldn't have gone to see Sophie at work today. Its just I needed to see her. Sure I wasn't interfering into her life but I had to be able to see how she was doing. Sophie was let out of the hospital a year later at age 19. She was placed with a family she thought she had been with for forever. They were told she was never aloud to be in contact with me at all.
" Mr. Patterson?" Looking up I saw my assistant Donald standing at my door with a handful of papers in his hand.
" Yes Donald." I hand motioned that he should take a seat before he had a heart attack at the looks of it.
" Mr. Rush is here to talk to you about some new arrangements for his account." I nodded and told him to bring him up.
I lived in New York City running a top insurance agency for housing, life insurance, health insurance, car insurance, and then I had a few outlets for some other things. When I left I decided to do things with my life. So I took some online classes at night while being a flight pilot. I mean I had my license so I figured I would use it. I just worked my way up there slowly. Plus changing you name isn't all that hard really when you live in a new city.
It was 10:00 pm by the time I left the big building. You could see my building from anywhere. I was one of the wealthiest bachelors in the united states. I rode in my black dodge truck home for the hour drive home across the big city. Pulling into my mansion of a house drive way I let Walter handle putting it away.
Opening up the vodka bottle I carried it with me to the pool. Rolling up my black suit pants I sat by my pool and let my feet dangle in the water.
Ever since Sophie I haven't loved. Sure there were women I screwed around with sometimes but Sophie was the love of my life. Now being 28 I had so much pressure to get married by the press and all but I refused. Sophie was my girl and she would always be. Nobody could ever be her. She made me a person. She made me feel alive. I drank it all away. Sure I said I could let her go but living without her was proving harder than expected. That is why I had to just see her today. She changed her name to Amy. Not as good as Sophie but Amy will do. She has her boyfriend Blake. He still went after her. He moved all the way from Washington for her. Her family the Dawson's were a lovely family.
I took another big gulp of from the vodka bottle and slowly slide down my throat. I was a good boss. Generous and kind. I knew that's what she would want. But here when I was alone I couldn't help but let every memory torture me.
That night after dropping Sophie off Steven killed himself. He was buried with all the other heroes. Sad thing ones after we left from that tour the one thing we weren't were heroes. I grieved over his death for a long time till eventually I stopped feeling it. Mr. Grays body was found months later washed up on a shore. Nobody knows what happened. He was so ate up from the sea they just ruled it an accident. His death I did not grieve.
Taking another swig I stared into the water and watched every ripple as it moved.
This is what I do every night. So I will do as long as time goes on. Sophie will always be my love. But she can not be in my life.
I dround myself into the drunkenness till reality was away and I wasn't sure if I was in reality or a dream. Just where I liked to be.
