First Day in the Forest

Y/n POV

In the morning, Lloyd and I were still not speaking to each other. I get that he had a hard life, but did he really need to be friends with Gaara? I bit my lip. Okay, that wasn't fair. Gaara wouldn't be a bad person if he just stopped threatening to kill people. I found Lloyd talking to Gaara and groaned. Dammit. I walked over. "Okay, Lloyd. You win. I'm sorry," I said unhappily.

Lloyd raised an eyebrow. "Not just me you have to apologize to."

"He needs to apologize to me too."

Lloyd looked at Gaara and then back at me. "It might be a while before he does that, Y/n."

"Then I won't apologize to him until he apologizes to me."

Lloyd sighed. "Alright. That's fine."

"Well, do you forgive me at least?" I asked hopefully.

He stayed silent for a minute while he thought about that. "Okay. I forgive you. But you have to remember, we're a team. We need to work together."

I nodded. "That's true." I returned to the table.

"Do you like Lloyd or something?" Temari asked.

I blinked. "What? Me? Like Lloyd? You're crazy. I just want us to be friends again."

"You two only didn't talk to each other for a day," Kankuro muttered.

"It was long enough,' I said.

~~Time Skip (To the Forest scene because I can never make a long chapter for the paper exam.)~~

Lloyd's POV

I looked at the gate we were going to be going through into the forest. "Hey, Lloyd!" A voice called.

I turned and saw Naruto heading over. "Hey, Naruto. What's up?"

"I heard you talked to Kiba, Shino, and Hinata," he said.

"I did."

"Are you sure you aren't trying to feel out the enemy?"

"I swear to you, I'm not," I said solemnly. "All I want to do is be your friend."

"You want to be friends with all of us?" Sakura asked as she came over.

I nodded. "I think everyone in the villages should be friends."

Y/n snorted. "That's not how everyone thinks."

"I know. But they should. It's only right."

Sakura nodded. "I suppose that's true."

"Yeah, but for the challenge. May the best Ninja win," Y/n said.

I rolled my eyes. Naruto and Sakura nodded and headed over to Sasuke. I looked at Y/n with a raised eyebrow. "'May the best Ninja win'?"

She grinned. "What? Friends can challenge other friends."

I shook my head and turned back to the gate. They opened it and we all went in. We walked in silence when Gaara started off to the right. "Gaara? Where are you going?" Temari asked.

He did answer so we followed him and found a few people on the ground. I touched each one of them. "Are they alive?" Y/n asked.

"Yes," I said. "They're just passed out." 

"Perhaps we should finish them off," Gaara said.

I moved so I was blocking them. "No."

He glared. "Move."

"No," I said firmly. "They're already out of commission. There is no need for you to do anything, Gaara."

We stared each other down but then he turned and walked away. We followed him. "Are you going to get between him and who he wants to kill now?" Y/n asked.

"Would you prefer to kill people?" I countered.

She sighed. "I don't know."

Gaara moved so he was walking beside me. "L/n, move up to Temari and Kankuro. I need to speak to Lloyd."

She opened her mouth to say something but I caught her eye and shook my head. She huffed and walked away. I looked at him. "What's up, Gaara?"

Gaara's POV

"You shouldn't get in my way when I am about to kill someone," I said.

Lloyd shrugged. "It's either that or watch you kill someone. I won't watch you kill people so I'm going to help you stop killing people." He looked at me. "Gaara. you do know the reason why Y/n hates you, right?"

"She hates me because I have a tailed beast inside me."

He shook his head. "No, Gaara. She hates you because you kill innocent people. As soon as you stop doing that, she won't hate you."

"I don't really care."

He snorted. "You care. You want friends. I'm the only one so far who's not scared of the challenge." He smiled slightly. "Y/n would take up the challenge but she won't because of you killing everyone."

I looked at him then at the ground. "You know my past. Do you honestly think she'd want to be friends with me?"

"From what I've heard, everyone knows your past, Gaara."

I shook my head. "Do they know about Yashimaru?"

"Uhh." He fell quiet. "I don't even know about that one."

"Yashimaru died because my father told him to kill me. When throwing his knives at me didn't work, he blew himself up thinking it would take me with him. My sand blocked it and Shukaku came out."

He nodded slowly. "Did he say anything?"

I glanced at him then looked away. "He told me he loved me once and then he said he never loved me that night."

"You do know your father probably told him to say that."

"It's possible," I acknowledged. "But I doubt it. Nobody liked me back then." I paused. "No one likes me now."

Lloyd's eyes narrowed. "Since when did I become nobody?"

"Other than you," I corrected myself quickly.

He sighed. "Like I said, Y/n would be friends with you if you stopped killing people."

"That's difficult when Shukaku wants blood."

"Gaara," Lloyd said in a voice that made me look at him. "Shukaku isn't you, you aren't Shukaku. He's just somebody who's living inside of you. He doesn't make your decisions. You make them."

I shook my head. "You don't get it. If I don't listen to him he'll come out and he'll do that killing."

Y/n suddenly flipped backward so she landed beside us. "Okay, listen, Gaara. You aren't the only one of us who has a tailed beast," she said.

Lloyd frowned. "What do you mean?"

She sighed. "I wasn't born in Suna. I was brought there. I have a tailed beast inside me whose sibling is Shukaku. She's a Tanuki too but she controls silver sand. That's how I'm able to control the sand."

"Shukaku has a sister?" Lloyd asked confused.

She huffed out a laugh. "Yeah, but she doesn't hate humans."

"Hey, you three," Kankuro said. "Why don't we camp here tonight?"

Lloyd nodded. "I'll take the first watch. Then it will be Temari, Kankuro, Y/n, and Gaara."

I frowned. "Why am I last?"

He grinned. "Because by then no one will want to be up."
