Chapter Eighteen

It had been four months since I got lost in Paris. I sat in my dorm. I had made a few friends in boarding school, but none like Jake or Emma. It was almost the end of the semester midterms were approaching. I sat at my desk studying math. The last four months all I thought about was getting out of here at the end of the year. I tried to keep my grades up so my parents wouldn't completely hate me.
There was a small knock at the door.
"Come in!" I yelled. One of the boys working with student council stepped in. It was mail time.
"Mail," he clucked. I stood and took it out of his hand. I hoped it was Emma or Jake. They were texting me still but a letter is more sentimental.
"Thank you," I replied. The boy slipped out of my dorm. I turned around and went to my desk. I sat in my chair and began to open the letter. It was written in beautiful handwriting, that could only mean one thing. The letter was from my mother.

Dear Sarah,
Your father and I have been thinking the last four months. Your grades have greatly improved and you haven't gotten yourself into any trouble. We want you to know we do listen to you and we want you to know we have arranged that at the end of the trimester you go to Paris to study art at a wonderful school. You will stay in a dorm like you do now but you can leave campus and see your friends Jake and Emma as you please. As long as you don't get into any trouble you will stay in Paris until school is out then we will take you home. You living in Paris will give your father and I a perfect excuse to get away from home to visit you. See you at the end of the semester.

Love,
Mom
P.S. Promise you won't get lost again?

My heart stopped. I was going back to Paris. The place where for the first time in my life I felt free. Paris truly was the city of love and it was the city I loved. Getting lost in Paris was the best thing that ever happened to me.

The End.

Short. Short. Short.
All I can think. I guess that's why they call it a short story. I'm sorry the plot wasn't complex or original, this was my first story and I just wanted to try things see what worked and what didn't work. Sarah was a great character to work with. I wish I had given Emma more of the personality I had planned for her. I had tons of fun writing this story. My story has grown in popularity and I'm very happy all of you chose to read it! Each and every reader really makes my day that much better. Please feel free to message me! I would love to hear feedback. If anyone would like me to read one of their story's just ask! Have wonderful days, weeks & years, and with that au revoir!
