Goodbyes were hard. We had only spent about a day together but they were the best friends I ever had. My mom said I had five minutes then climbed into the front seat of the police car. I said goodbye to Emma first. I lunged at her and gave her a huge hug. I almost knocked her over, the hug definitely took her by surprise.
"Emma you are the smartest most caring person I have ever met," I began only to be cut of.
"Hey!" Jake shouted.
"Oh shut up!" Emma replied.
"Anyway," I began again, "Emma you are one of the greatest people I have ever met. Don't let anyone change you. If you need anything, give me a call okay?" I finished handing her a slip of paper with my number on it.
"I'm gonna miss you so much Sarah," Emma said almost in tears. I gave her a final hug then approached Jake.
"Jake, you have made the last day a real adventure. I will miss you with all my heart," I said. Then I pulled Jake to the side so I could have a private conversation.
"What you said last night about me being your girlfriend, I don't think it's gonna work. I live in Florida and you live in France. You deserve a girlfriend who can see you through more then a computer screen. There are hundreds of girls in France who would want to date you," I exposed. Jake was a wonderful guy I didn't want him to have a girlfriend who he texted twice a week. Jake deserves everything and more. There was silence, Jake didn't say anything. He looked like I had just torn out his heart. I gave a hopeful smile then turned around to get in the car. I was caught by surprise when Jake grabbed my hand spun me around then kissed me. He pulled away from the kiss and whispered,
"I want the girl standing right in front of me." And I wanted him too.
