Lorelai was sitting in Luke's diner with Matthew. She was watching him while Rory was in Washington. Shortly after Rory's graduation, Lorelai and Luke got back together, and in 2009, they got married.

"More" Matthew said.

"Alright, one more time" Luke said. "Ready?"

"Yeah!" Matthew said

Luke held up a quarter and then did that magic trick where the coin disappears.

"Ahhh!" Matthew squealed.

"Ok..." Luke said and brought his hand up to his ear. Matthew could be really loud. "I'll be right back" he said and walked into the kitchen.

"Where it go?" Matthew asked

"It disappeared" Lorelai told him.

"Pistapeered!" Matthew said.

Just then Sookie walked into the diner. "Hey Lorelai. Baby Matt"

"Don't let Rory hear you call him that" Lorelai said. Shortly after Matthew was born, Rory decided that she didn't want people calling him Matt. If he grew up and wanted to be called that, then so be it, but for as long as it was her decision, it was Matthew.

"What? Why not?" Sookie asked. She'd never actually called him that before, but she didn't understand why it would be a problem.

"Because that's what she called her husband before he died, and she doesn't like when people call her son that"

"Oh..."

"Yeah"

In May of 2007, after breaking up with rory, Logan moved to Palo Alto. He lived there until October of 2013, when his father died and he moved back to the east coast and took over HPG. Over the years he had a few serious relationships, but nothing that lasted.

One weekend in January, he found himself in Washington for a media convention. On Saturday evening, he walked into the hotel bar. There were a lot of people in the room, and on his way to the bar, Logan bumped into someone he hadn't seen in years.

"Sorry" Rory said. She'd just finished having dinner with some of her coworkers and was heading back to her room when she bumped into someone she hadn't thought about in a long time.

Logan chuckled a little when he looked up and realized who he had bumped into. "Long time, no see"

"Hi Logan" Rory said

"So how've you been?" Logan asked

"I've been uh...ok. I guess" Rory said. She never really knew how to answer that question.

"You guess?"

"It's complicated" Rory said. "But uh...what about you? How are you?"

"I'm good"

"That's good"

"We uh...we should catch up sometime"

"Sure" Rory said.

"Can I uh...can I buy you a drink?" Logan asked. He saw the wedding ring on her finger, but didn't think it would be a problem if he got a drink with her. Worst case she'd say no if she didn't want to.

"I actually don't drink" Rory told him. For a brief moment he was disappointed, and kind of thought she was just trying not to say no, but then she spoke again. "But I wouldn't say no to a cup of coffee"

Logan chuckled. "After you"

The walked to a small coffee shop that was across the street from the hotel and ordered some coffee before sitting down.
