A Second Chance

Chapter 12

It had been 2 weeks since Rory and Logan got back from Washington. It had also been 2 weeks since they found out that Rory was pregnant.

On Monday Rory had lunch with Lorelai who immediately could tell that something was up.

"What's going on with you?" Lorelai asked

"I'm gonna tell you something and I need you to not freak out" Rory said.

"Ok"

"After the car accident I had blood work done and apparently before you get an X-ray, they have to do a pregnancy test" Rory said. She could see the moment that Lorelai realized what she was saying.

"You're pregnant?"

Rory nodded.

"Ok...are we excited about this or are we exercising our legal right to choose?"

Rory chuckled. "Well it was definitely a shock, but we're excited about it"

"What does matthew think?"

"He doesn't know, and I'm not telling him until we figure out what we're doing" Rory said

"What do you mean?"

"I don't know how far along I am. I have a doctors appointment on Thursday. And obviously if we're having a baby then we should live together, but I think that we're gonna get a new place" Rory said. She didn't feel right about letting Logan move into the house that she'd bought with Matt. It was too weird. She also just really liked the idea of starting fresh with Logan. They'd buy a house together, they'd have their baby, and Matthew, and Cody. It would be great.

"Got it"

On Thursday morning Rory and Logan dropped Matthew off at daycare before heading to the clinic to see Rory's doctor.  They'd talked about it a lot and once the initial shock was gone, they were pretty excited about the idea of having a baby.

"This is cool" Logan said as he watched Dr Lee do Rory's ultrasound. "I've never seen one of these before"

"Really?" Rory asked. Logan nodded.

"Ok, so you're 5 weeks and about 3 days pregnant, and everything looks good here, but the IUD does need to come out. I can do it now, it should only take a few minutes"

"Ok" Rory nodded.

"I just want to inform you that removing the IUD could increase your chance of miscarriage" she said

"Wait, then why not just leave it?" Logan asked

"It's not safe to leave it in" she said. "Not for the baby and not for Rory"

"Ok"

The next morning, Logan was woken up early by a very frantic Rory tapping him. "Logan"

"Hmm?" Logan was asleep and it didn't register that Rory was clearly upset about something.

"Logan"

"What?"

"I'm bleeding"

"What?" Logan asked, now fully awake.

"I'm bleeding"

"Ok...um...ok" Logan said. He wasn't sure what to do, but he knew that bleeding was never a good thing. "I'll call the clinic?"

"No, It's too early" Rory said.

"Ok...are you feeling ok? Are you in pain?"

"A little, but it's fine, I don't care" Rory said. She might not have been expecting a baby, but in the 2 weeks since finding out about it she'd let herself get excited about it. She didn't care that she was in pain, she just wanted the baby to be ok.
