One Tuesday in March, Rory found herself opening the door for Lorelai. "Hey"
"Hi" Lorelai said and hugged her. "What am I looking at?"
"Triplets restock" Rory said. "Once a month Logan and I go and get all the babies stuff that way we don't have to worry about running out. Diapers, wipes, the soap we use on them, stuff like that. Also the pediasure stuff for Julie"
"You ever think about the fact that you're gonna have to potty train three kids at once?"
"All the time" Rory said. "You want some coffee?"
"Is that a question?"
"Right" Rory chuckled.
"So what do you guys have going on today?" Lorelai asked.
"I just got off a work call, Matthew's in school, Ryan and Noah are at daycare, and Logan took Julie to her feeding therapy"
"How's that going?"
"It's going fine, I guess" Rory said. "She's still only eating the same four foods every day"
"She only eats four things?"
"Scrambled eggs, broccoli, applesauce, yogurt" Rory said. "And maybe pasta if there's nothing on it"
"No wonder she's tiny"
"Yeah, well they all have their 18 month checkup next week and I'm sure the pediatrician will have something to say about it" Rory rolled her eyes. "As if we don't try all day, every day to get her to eat"
"Your pediatrician is a quack"
"I don't even care what he says. We're working with the dietitians, she technically has a balanced diet, she's fine"
"I'm on your side here but how does she have a balanced diet?" Lorelai asked.
"I didn't really get it either, but apparently because she gets all the food groups it counts as a balanced diet"
"Huh"
Meanwhile, Logan was watching Julie and her therapist, Kendra.
"Ok, Julie" Kendra said as she put two small bowls on the table that was between them. One with salmon in it and one with sliced turkey. "Do you know what this is?"
"Pink!" Julie pointed to the salmon.
"That's right, the salmon is pink" Kendra said. "Do you know what this is?" She pointed to the turkey.
"Yucky"
"Why is it yucky?" Kendra asked.
"Chicken" Julie said. Chicken was one of the few foods that Logan and Rory had actually gotten Julie to try and to say she didn't like it was an understatement.
"Close, it's turkey" Kendra said. "Do either of these foods look fun to you?" She asked. She was hoping Julie would at least be interested in the salmon since it was pink.
"Pink" Julie said.
"Ok, let's look at the pink salmon" Kendra said and moved the turkey away. "Do you wanna touch the salmon? See what it feels like?"
Logan watched Julie play with the salmon for a few moments. He was shocked when she actually put some in her mouth and even more shocked when she kept eating it.
Before they left, Kendra gave Logan what he liked to call homework. After every session that Julie had with Kendra, she'd give them some ideas for things to try between then and the next appointment which would be a week later.
