NORA'S POV
The sky takes a orangish hue and the cold wind grazes my skin and makes me shiver.
"Are you cold, Papa? Do you want me to get a blanket for you or a coat? Whichever works for you?" I am, not gonna lie, terrified to my core.
"I am fine, Mija. But I am thinking if you are doing okay? You aren't picking up my calls and responding to our texts. Nate is the only one who is in touch with you." His eyes are filled with concern and my heart withers with sadness. I fiddle with a ring on my finger.
"I needed space from everything that was going on. Truthfully, I was upset with you. I know you have a big heart and all but I don't. I can't forgive nor forget."
He taps the wheelchair arm and I instantly know that he is anxious.
"Are you still upset with me?"
I sigh.
"I am not. I can't be upset with you. I was upset just at the fact that you didn't consider me telling me this first. I heard it from the TV not from you, Papa. I was disappointed and the fact that I wasn't prepared for that news made me lose my mind."
I look back and Nate is still on his business call.
"I am sorry, Mija. I should have been more considerable about your feelings. But I need to what went wrong which I can't do if you don't tell me."
I mean he is right. I shut myself down and didn't reply to his texts nor his calls. It's a defense mechanism for me. I shut down things when it hurts me.
"I will try not to do that." I smile.
"Also you need to call your mama. She is worried sick and she regrets it. I hope this was enough for you to pick up your phone and call her."
I roll my eyes. She doesn't regret it. She just wants Papa to talk to her. She just cares about Papa, her son and her reputation.
"How long will guys be here? I can take you guys to amazing places. You can meet Niko too."
I hear footsteps behind me.
"Not gonna happen. I am so sorry, Nora. We have to leave right now. Something urgent came up at work."
Oh. I am sad now. Thought I would spend some time with them.
"That's sad. But work first." I smile.
"Why are there so many bodyguards, Mija? Is something I should be concerned of?"
O Fuck!!! Ofcourse, he noticed.
"Kai has lot of crazy fans so he hired them for our safety. Ira has too, although she is out of country right now."
He nods.
"Oh. Well, Mija, you need to be careful. Football fans are known to be aggressive." He chuckles.
Well, I don't know about the football fans but I know someone else who is aggressive.
I drop them off to the airport and stop by the bookstore and buy some books cause I would never be satisfied by just casually gazing at the books.
I mean I bought a lot of books because Mr. Barnes was struggling to keep a straight face. You know, you did a great thing when you can rattle Mr. Barnes. That man shows no emotion. Who hurt him?
I reach home. I change into comfy clothes. Basically into a black tank top and black sweatpants. I dim the lights, put some Taylor Swift's music and light up the candles.
