Chapter 7

Beep...Beep...Beep

I opened my eyes slowly adjusting to the light in the room.

When did I even fall asleep?

Beside me I saw a phone where the alarm was coming from. I yawned and dismissed the alarm and saw that it was already four in the afternoon. I was about to lay back down for a while before it hit me: I didn't have a cell phone anymore.

I jumped out of my bed missing the fact that my feet was wrapped in the sheet. I tripped and landed with a loud thud. I really had to get myself together. I groaned and rolled onto my back. Staring up at the ceiling, I unwrapped the sheet and just laid on the floor.

Gina opened my door and burst out laughing. "You're a bigger klutz than Mike."

She stepped in and observed the scene some more. I saw her green eyes study the room before she nodded.

"Let me guess, you turned off the phone, realized you didn't have a phone and tried to get out your bed out of shock and your foot was caught in the sheet so you fell." she smirked.

I nodded which led to another roll of laughter.

"Oh man you are something else Addy," she was about to close the door when I stopped her. She turned back to me with questioning eyes.

"Is everyone mad at me? You know... about what I said earlier?"

Gina's gaze intensified before she narrowed her eyes. "You know you hurt some feelings back there. You might have something against crying and showing weakness, but you almost made Kat cry. She was actually excited to meet you at first. And you have some nerve not to trust the one girl who actually brought your ass here."

I swallowed and nodded. She was right. "Yeah you're right. I'm sorry. I mean you guys are all the friends I have now and I shouldn't have said what I said.

Gina softened her gaze before sighing. "You should be saying that to Kat and Caden. It's there feelings you really hurt. Everyone else seems fine to me." she turned to leave again.

When she closed the door, I stood up and picked up the cell phone. I was obviously new. There was a yellow envelope next to it that I had missed. Just then Gina opened there there and peeked in again.

"Just for the record, me and you were never friends. We still aren't so don't let my niceness get to your head." she flashed me a smile before leaving again.

I laughed and opened the envelope. It was the invitation to my father's party and a letter saying the phone was mine and that I was the only one with my dad's direct number. I put the phone in my back pocket and walked into the kitchen. There sat Hunter, Gina, and the twins. I saw Kat step out and into the family room with her phone.

Hunter was flipping through some catalog with his brothers and Gina was eating a sandwich and on her phone as well.

"What happened when I fell asleep?" I asked as I poured myself some orange juice before planting myself in the seat next to Brian.

Brian grinned. "Well Kat locked herself in her room for a while with Gina. Girl talk I guess. Caden took a walk and hasn't been back since. Your father had someone deliver us the invites and a whole bunch of new phones. The guy said they work on some secured line just in case we wanted to call home or something." he shot me a pointed look. "You know... in case we wanted to call a friend or something..." Hunter and the twins looked up at me expectantly.
