SORRY FOR THE SUPER LONG WAIT!!!!!

Chapter 25

As I made my way into the house, I realized there were no guards or any security around. It was strange. By now I was expecting Anne to have caught me and kill or torture me on the spot. Or maybe even both. I made a turn into a dimly lit hallway. It looked like something right out of a horror movie. It was still so quiet too.

Come on Anne. Where could you be?

I peeked inside a random room in the middle of the hallway. No one was inside. Now I'm starting to get a little freaked out. It's quite, dark, and lonely in a stranger's huge house. I don't know my way around. I'm getting a little frustrated at this point.

All I know is that the longer it takes me to find Anne, the more resentment I'm going to feel towards her and the quicker she dies. I continued my way down the hallway but stopped short when I heard voices. I leaned against that door and pressed my ear against it trying to hear some of the conversation inside.

"What are you guys doing about it?" I heard a woman's voice say. I instantly knew it was Anne's. I leaned in more without pressing my body to the door. I was so close yet so far.

"Everything. We have men searching every perimeter outside," a deep voice replied.

It became silent for a while. Then Anne started to laugh loudly. I jumped at the sound. When she stopped laughing there was a loud boom sound.

"You're telling me that you left my home unattended?" Anne asked the man.

He said something back but the sound was muffled almost as if someone was covering his face with a blanket or a pillow.

"The girl is out to kill me and you send all my protection outside? Is there even a person watching my lockdown room?"

He said something else I couldn't hear.

"Just a girl? Do you even know what she is capable of?" She yelled.

I'm sure the man replied but I stopped paying attention. My father had his own lockdown room which help the switch to keep people out the house out and the people in the house in. All of Anne's workers were already outside. If I could get to that room and shut everything down from the inside, I could take care of Anne without worries of any inferences. I took of down the hallway as silently as I could.

If my guess is right, Anne's lockdown room should be on the highest floor all the way in the back. I began my way towards the stairs as quick as I could without making a sound.

"Shut up and get my men back to my house!" I heard Anne say from somewhere behind me.

I sped up my pace holding on to my gun so that it didn't fall from my waist and notify Anne of my presence. I took the stairs two at a time beginning to panic slightly. If I continued like this Anne could easily look up an see me. That would screw my life up completely. I ducked into the hallway of the second floor and started full on running. There was no way I was going to get to the room if I had continued going at that pace.

"Who is that ?" I heard Anne call up before her own footsteps began to speed up behind me.

I dipped into another hallway that led back to the stairs. I raced up the stairs as quick as I could. My heart was beating hard and breathing was getting harder.

"Are you serious right now? She's heading for my lockdown room! Where are my men?" Anne yelled behind me.

At least I knew I was going in the right direction.
