Chapter 21

I froze feeling completely shocked and betrayed. Luke gave me to Anne. Two of Anne's men taped my mouth and strapped me in. I screamed at put up a fight. I managed to clip one of her men in the jaw but I was soon overpowered when he slapped me. Hard. My vision blurred for a second. Soon I could barely move my foot anywhere. My hurt shoulder was burning in pain and my face stung but I refused to show it.

Why did Luke this?

She smiled at me.

"Aw, darling don't be upset. Luke did what he needed to do. You should not even blame him for any of this anyway, sweetie." She told her driver to go.

I tried to come up with a plan to get out of here. The windows were practically painted black. It was completely impossible to see outside. Hope was fading quickly. Anne saw me looking around and grinned.

"Now, now Adelaide sweetheart. I know you're not trying to find some way to leave me now are you? Oh darling you are going to make a great assistant when I take over your dad's little business. Just wonderful. Oh speaking of your dad," she signaled one of her men and pulled out her phone. Her man snatched the tape of my mouth in one pull.

I let out a scream as the pain erupted around my mouth. There was a tickle near my chin and I knew my bottom lip was now cut. Anne looked at me and shook her head. "Ugh, you drew blood, you idiot!" She scowled her man. Then she grabbed me jaw to examine the cut.

"You'll heal. It's small." she returned to her phone again.

"Where's my sister?" I said hoarsely.

"In the trunk, why?" Anne said flatly as if I asked her what she thought about the weather.

I tried to twist to see the trunk but only caught a glimpse of Eva. I recognized her pink pajama bottoms and fluffy socks. At Luke spoke a bit of truth.

"Why is it no one can ever do what I ask them to do correctly." Anne tossed her phone to her man. He then opened the window, causing me to shiver, and threw the phone out. Then the other man handed her a different phone. She turned to me.

"Where is your father hiding, Adelaide?" she asked all business like.

I purposefully looked away from her and gave my attention to the all black window next to me. This pissed Anne off. She grabbed my jaw tightly and made me look at her. Her nostrils flared as she glared at me.

"I asked you a question you rude little bitch!" she growled.

I spit in her face and grinned when she jumped back disgusted. She slapped me again and my head spun. I laid my head against the window to fight the pain. Anne took this moment to grab my face again, this time squeezing so my mouth wouldn't open. Smart woman. The man I bit placed tape over my mouth again.

"You are going to learn some respect before you work for me." she smiled evilly. "I had hoped my lessons would help. I guess you need more... assistance."

She snapped her fingers and her man pulled out a small black case from under his chair. When he opened it I saw that the case contained a needle and a tall skinny vial with a clear liquid in it. My eyes widened as I watched Anne fill the needle.

"Hold out her arms." she ordered her men.

I pulled my arms close to my body and thrashed in my seat. Whatever is in that needle obviously is going to do some serious harm and I refuse to let Anne win. I've come way too far. I headbutted and tried to kick but the men were ready. One elbowed me in the face and the other sat on me. Disoriented, I didn't realize Anne already had my arm in her hand and was inserting the needle.
