There was a knock on my door the next morning when I came out of the shower, I knew it had to be mukti so I opened the door.
"Bhai"
"Whats wrong?" I ask seeing her stressed
"Nandini, she isn't in her room"
"Thats because she is in my room sleeping" I say stepping aside
She looks at nandini and a beautiful smile forms on her lips
"She scared the fuck out of me"
"language mukti"
'Sorry, I just got scared, but what is she doing here?" she asks
"Sit, I wanted to talk to you about that" I mumble
She takes a seat on the couch in my room and I sit beside her
"She had a panic attack last night" I whisepr
"She did?" For some reason mukti wasn't too shocked about it
"Yeah, I got her ice cream on our way back and she spilled a little bit on the seat. I told her it was fine but she freaked out, I found her scrubbing the seats with detergent mukti. She was sobbing like I haven't ever seen anyone sob, she couldn't breath for a minute"
mukti sighs hearing me
"She does't have a good past bhai, she panics about a lot of things"
"She was so bound on punishments" I whisper
"Yeah, she used to get a lot at her house. you know bhai I have never seen anyone cry like she does not that she has a lot of times in front of me" she whispers as we both look at nandini sleeping on the bed
"You felt that too?" I ask
"You did too?" She asked
"Yeah, I don't think I have ever felt this drainage seeing anyone cry but last night she was sobbing so loud that it almost overwhelmed me in a way that I haven't been" I tell her
Mukti and I share everything so I don't have a problem telling her how I felt, she is the only I talk to and maybe now nandini as well but still
"Can I tell you something? Just between you and I"
"Of course" I mumble
My eyes still on nandini who was sleeping so cutely, her hair was all over the place hiding her face as well. She was holding onto a pillow that I placed beside her when I got up this morning.
"She ran away from home, she was going to just stay in the streets or the train station but I forced her to come home"
"Ran away?" I ask
"Yeah, she packed her bag and left. Bhai, her house is horrible, I have seen hints of it and it still haunts me so I don't know how she survived there"
"What do you mean?" I turn my head to mute
"Nothing, I can't tell you everything. If one day, you and her become best friends too she might tell you but I want you to know that she is staying here forever because I am afraid that if she goes back, she might not make it this time"
"Mukti what are you talking about?" I ask not being sure of what's going on
"Forget it, it's not my place to tell anyways. Mhm bhai I have meetings but will you please stay home with her"
'sure" I say
"I mean for a month" she says
"A month? Where are you going?"
"Earlier this morning, my boss emailed about this trip that had slipped my mind so I packed and now knowing that she had a panic attack I don't want to say anything to her or wake her up. I will give her a call once she is up and explain. Do you mind jsut keeping an eye or making sure she is okay when I am not here?" She asks
"Of course I can" she smiles kissing my cheek
"mukti here" I say grabbing some cash and one of my black cards from my wallet handing it to her
"I am not a little girl anymore I earn money" she pouts
"But I am still your older brother so take it and enjoy yourself. Make sure you are having fun but not too much fun and no boys" she grins hearing me
I love giving her speeches but it's always perfect when she grins in return because she knows I am not going to have rules for her other than safety that her bodyguard who will be going with her takes care of. Plus I know abhimanyu is probably going too
"I love you bhai" she says hugging me
"I love you too Choti, come on let me walk with you"
"Nanu" she says
"You can wake her up"
"No it's okay" she mumbles walking to nandini
She leans down kissing Nandini's head
"Bye bye nanu, I will see you in a bit. I love you" she says kissing her again then walking to me
I smile seeing how close the two actually are.
"Why the hell are you taking 5 suitcases?" I frown as I walk to the car
"Girls need outfits bhai, 3 outfits a day. Gosh you are so boring, you need a girl"
"Shut up, oh and don't you dare lose the bodyguards this time or max will hunt you down" I warn her
She rolls her eyes making me chuckle
"love you"
"Love you too bhai, byeeee" I kiss her head and open the door for her
"Max keep an eye on her" I say leaning on the window of the car
"Of course I will, I love messing with her" he teases making me laugh
"Bhaiiii" she whines
"Bye muku, call me when you reach okay"
"Bye bye" she waves at me
I walk back in the house and up to my room again, a smile forms on my lips seeing nandini still sleeping.
I don't know what's in her past but all of me wants to protect her at any cost I have to pay. She is s precious, she has eyes as innocent as a new born baby yet something tells me those eyes have seen the most cruel things
I sit on the couch doing some work on my laptop, it was around midday, around noon when I catch nandini stirring in her sleep a little so I look up at her with a smile
