In Between All The Chaos

Chapter 9

Nandini's pov

I was lost, I had gotten lost in the house, well more like a god damn palace. I have been at manik and multi's house for about 20 days now and still I get lost. Today I was home alone because manik had a meeting really early so when I woke up I made breakfast and then I talked to mukti who by the way isn't coming back any time soon

In our office, we have these international projects and they say it's a month because that's how long the ramp shows last but it usually takes a couple months or so with the different ramps. So mukti and abhimanyu aren't coming back in 10 days, they will probably take longer

It was around 7 in the evening when I was walking around in the house when I found another floor and the rooftop, they have a rooftop with a private pool and a hot tub like gosh, it's perfect.

"Hey stranger" I hear his voice

I haven't been able to digest the fact that manik is friends with me, him and I have spent the last 20 days talking, we danced hehe, I made him dance with me in the kitchen that one day, he is so sweet.

Here is the thing, manik is so handsome that I sometimes think that I am imagining and hallucinating him and I being friends.

"Hiiiii manik" I smile turning around to look at him

He was wearing a white shirt, his tie hung loosely around his neck, his sleeves rolled up, his black blazer/coat on his shoulder

"Hi doll, what have you been up too?" He asks inching closer

My heart always does a summersault when he calls me doll

"Nothing, I was wandering around then I got lost and couldn't figure out where I turned so I just stayed up here watching the stars. How was work?" I ask

"Hectic"

"Yeah? What happened?" I ask grabbing his coat from him

"A file was misplaced, it was for a new contract and no one could find it. Clients were a bit fussy and wanted us to give them some sort of discount for misplacing the file and I couldn't find a loophole so I had to. I mean it's a small loss compared to the gain but it could have been avoided" he mumbles

"True but don't be upset, you already dealt with the situation, it's done and over with. Even if you find the file now, it doesn't matter because you have the new one right"

"Yeah you are right but it's careless"

"They are all humans manik, it happens. Tell me the highlight of your day"

He smiles slightly, his smile lines are so attractive

"Coming back home to you" my breath hitches hearing him

For a minute, I had forgotten what was going on and where we were. It was like the background blended and I could only see him

"Really?" I ask

He doesn't say anything but he steps forward, he lifts his hand placing it on my cheeks

"Yes really, the company is a chaos"

I don't say anything but I lean into his palm

"And you are that calm for me" I giggle hearing him

"Yeah?" He nods

His other hand cups my cheeks as well, I stare into his eyes like he stares into mine. There was a lot of things happening because his eyes, they are a pool of emotions.

"Nandini" I hum because words will betray me right now, I know they will

"Baby I don't know why but I feel at peace with you, I feel like I work for hours sitting by you, I feel like I am okay and my brain isn't running a billion miles an hour. I feel like the world doesn't matter because I am in your presence. Does that make sense?" He asks
