Kanes POV

"So how do you like Rose?" I asked my mom the next morning. Rose was out with the girls.

"She's very nice. What does she do for a living?" My mom asked concerned.

"She was a hockey player in the NWHL but she recently injured her foot really badly so they don't have her playing for the rest of the season," I said simply.

"So she's a hockey player just like you? Hmm. She seems very independent. Is she captain?" My mom asked. She was very good at talking hockey.

"Yes, she is actually. I really like her mom," I said sitting on the counter in the kitchen.

"I see that. I was just making sure she wasn't, what's the word, a gold digger. That's what happened with the last one," My mom said referring to my ex girlfriend.

"I know, I screwed up last time. But she's different. I can tell with her. I'm gonna marry her one day," I said smiling to myself.

"Don't rush into anything Patrick. I'm sure she is as lovely as she seems but take your time. You're young," She said getting out the orange juice from the fridge.

"I know, mom. But I just wanted to tell you that I really care about this girl," I said to her.

"I can see that. I like her too. You've made a good choice. I'm proud of you," My mom said giving me a hug.

"We're back!" I heard Jessica yell through the front door.

I walked over and Rose was smiling and looking like she had a good time.

"How was your day?" I asked after I gave her a kiss.

"It was really fun. We all had a good time. I mean look at my nails," She said showing me her girly looking nails.

"Well that's for sure different," I said not used to seeing her with her nails painted at all.

"I know right! I actually like it though. Your sisters are really wonderful," She said smiling at me as we walked up the stairs.

"I'm glad you guys like each other. My mom loves you," I said smiling at her. She was so beautiful.

"She does? Thank god. I thought she was like starting to hate me or something." She said giving me a laugh.

"I honestly don't know how anyone could hate you. But before we leave we are gonna go out to a family skate okay? I don't want you to hurt yourself though so just take it easy. You recently got your cast off," I said.

"You sound like a parent. I'll be fine. I just am like aching to be on the ice again. I miss it so much," She said giving me a sad face.

"I know babe. You will be by next season. It'll be like you never left," I said bringing her in for a hug.

"We're leaving in like ten minutes so you need to grab your skates and we'll be on our way," I said kissing her forehead.

"I want a real kiss," She whined.

"Yes ma'am," I said bringing my lips down to hers and kissing her romantically.

"Thank  you babe," She said smiling at me.

"Time to go guys!" We heard my mom yell from down stairs.

"We're coming!" I yelled back grabbing my skates.

"Let's go."

-

When we got there it was the place that I skated at growing up. This place had a lot of memories.

"I'm excited," Rose said practically jumping out of the car. This would be her first time on the ice since her accident.

"I bet. I'd be too if I ever got injured," I said giving a little chuckle.

She gave me a glare and I turned my head away so that we couldn't make eye contact. She scared me sometimes.

"Some of the boys from the team came out with their families as well so you might see some familiar faces," I said to Rose as we walked in.

"I wonder if Jonny is--"

"ROSE!" Jonny yelled cutting of Rose and running to her and picking her up. I guess you can say they had a very close relationship.

"Hi Jonny!" She laughed giving him a hug.

"I missed you bud. It's nice to see you Donna. And you too girls," Jonathan said winking at my sisters.

He was all of their favorite players, well besides me.

"Well! Let's get skating!" I yelled bringing out the excitement in everyone.

I helped Rose onto the ice at first because I was really sorta nervous for her. I didn't want her hurt anymore than she already has been. It was my job to protect her and that is what I was going to do.

"I've got it Pat," Rose said getting annoyed that I was being cautious of her.

I backed up and gave her some space so that she wouldn't get mad at me. I mean you have to pick and choose your battles.

She skated away and I tried to distract myself so that I wouldn't get too nervous.

"So, she's a good skater," My dad said skating up next to me.

"Yes. She was the captain for her hockey team. She's in the NWHL," I told him. I thought mom would've told him but I guess not.

"That explains why you like her so much then," My dad said laughing.

"I like her a lot dad. She means so much to me," I said smiling at him.

"I can tell bud. She's good for you. And shes in love with you. I can tell. So DON'T break her heart. Because if you do we are going to have some serious problems," My dad said giving me a serious look.

"Trust me, dad. I really don't plan on it. I can't lose her," I said truthfully.

"Well you won't," Rose said skating up behind me and giving me a kiss.

Perfect Timing Pat.

"I love you," She said resting her forehead against mine. By that time my dad had skated away to not ruin the moment.

"I love you that much more," I said kissing her forehead not wanting this to end.

"I'm so lucky," She said giving me a smile.

If only she knew.
