S U R I - S I M O N E

Days have passed since I last spoken to or saw Axel before he set out on what I feel has been his own case of a suicide mission. I've been literally sick to my stomach without having heard anything from his end—not even a simple 'Hello'.

Surprisingly so, I've realized in the moment since I've been alone that I haven't had my period yet. Could it be stress related? Uncertain. There's no way in hell I could be pregnant...maybe? That would be the worst thing to happen for either of us right now; there's way too much going on to even think about bringing life into all of this.

I laid in the bed, staring up at the white ceiling watching as the fan spun in circles and continued to sulk in my sadness until I heard light knocks coming from the bedroom door.

"Yes?" I answered softly as I awaited to hear who it could've been.

"Hey, it's Yamileth, is it okay if I came in?" She asks, her tone of voice was soft and accent somewhat thick.

I quickly rose up from lying down and spoke back. "Sure, yeah."

She creeps inside of the room, feet barely making any sounds as she closed the door behind her and she had a glass of something in her hand, outstretching it for me to take.

"I thought you might like to have something refreshing..."

I smiled as I thanked her, taking the glass from her hand and placing the straw to my lips to sip. It was a fruity concoction of a drink with remnants of milk or cream. "It's really good, thank you."

She nods and smiles. "Thank you, and no problem. I feel it should help with the nausea you've been experiencing, how are you feeling today?"

"Still the same. I haven't heard anything from Axel either, so I'm worried out of my mind that there could be something wrong." I spoke as I tried to fight through getting emotional.

She frowned a little and rubbed a hand on my shoulder. "I'm sure he's okay wherever he is. If he's doing anything similar to what he's done in the past, then he just doesn't have access to his phone right now. Last time he went undercover, he was without contact for three months before I'd heard anything."

Dear lord, I would hope that's not the case this time around.

"—I'm sorry I don't think that helped the situation." She quickly rebuffs.

"No, no it's okay, I appreciate the transparency. I feel sometimes the band aid has to be ripped off, no matter how hard it may hurt." I half smirk.

She looked at me as if she were in deep thoughts about something. "How did Axel come across a gem like you? I swear it seems every woman in the past he hand picked from the pits of hell, but you...you're just a breath of fresh air."

I blushed at her compliment and nodded. "Thank you, really, but he didn't necessarily stumble upon me in the most romantic way. We're next door neighbors back in Los Angeles."
