"Ahora estás entrando en la ciudad de Madrid
a través del Aeropuerto Internacional de Madrid-Barajas, ¡Bienvenido!"
//
rough translation: You are now entering the city of Madrid via Madrid-Barajas International Airport, welcome!

— —

The overhead speakers announced a welcome message as we entered the airport to my forever home at heart, the beloved city of Madrid. I hadn't been here in years, last time I was here I think I was in middle school visiting some family members with my cousin.

I held onto Suri's hand as we walked through the airport, careful of anyone suspicious-looking. Sergio has bought almost everyone in this city, and strong-arm anyone he comes in contact with. Airport personnel, la polícia, they weren't to be trusted easily. As American citizens, we were already targets, but could easily play it off as being tourists here for holiday.

"Alright, taxis aren't cheap here, so I got us a rental car instead. Be cautious of everyone around you, I'm just informing you in case we're separated for any reason at all. You get into trouble, you need to remember this number—"

Fabiano Aranciatta

She frowns up. "Who's this?"

"An ally. He knows what to do if anything happens. Now come, we need to get out of sight before we're made." I direct her to the exit of the airport and was hit with the humid, sweet air of the city. The car was parked in the airport parking lot, so we crossed the terminal streets and walked towards it.

I unlocked the doors and placed our bags in the trunk. Suri gets in and places her seatbelt on. I entered and started the engine, backing out of the parking space and drove towards our hotel.

"Oh yeah, while we're here, I thought it'd be nice to visit some family, since it's been such a long time that I've seen them anyway. You don't mind do you?"

She shakes her head. "No, not at all. Speaking of family though, can I please call Taryn? Just to make sure that she's safe and everything."

I couldn't bring myself to say no. It would be selfish not to let her, and I don't see any real threat. "Yeah...there's a satellite phone on the side of my bag."

She reaches back and grabs the phone, scrunching up her face a little.

"The country code is—"

"I know, I've done this before..." She continues with dialing the number and places the phone to her ear. She nibbles on her fingertips nervously as she awaited a response from her sister.

After a couple of rings, she finally picked up and Suri released a deep sigh. "Taryn, I'm so relieved to hear your voice."

She continued talking, asking her questions in different subject matters from her feelings to what she's been eating. It's pretty evident those two are really close to each other.
