S U R I - S I M O N E

We drove for nearly ten hours, and stopped only once to fill up on gas. There was a road marker that read 'Salt Lake City' in huge letters. It looks like I don't have much of a choice to be here right now, and I can only hope we'll be stopping soon so that I could sleep after being awake all night.

I looked over at Axel, seeing he was more relaxed in his attire. Bow tie undone and hanging from his shoulder, a few buttons unbuttoned on his dress shirt, and the blazer was tossed in the backseat of his car.

"We need to get a different vehicle to drive, apparently there's an APB that's been put out on this one. I have a friend who lives here that could arrange something for us." He speaks lowly.

I nod. "Will we be stopping soon?"

"Yeah, we're coming up on the exit now."

He merged onto the exit and drives for a few more miles before coming up on this auto repair shop. It looked old and barren, abandoned cars were parked out front. He unbuckles his seatbelt. "I'll be right back."

I watched as he got out of the car and opened my clutch, staring at the gun that I was supposed to have used last night. Silly me.

I grabbed my phone and checked to see if I had any calls or messages, which I did. Several of them were from Taryn, a couple of others from Trevante and one from my mom.

I called Taryn back first because I'm sure she's worried out of her mind. She picks up on the third ring, sighing heavily.

"Ohmygod, Suri! I heard about the shooting at the casino and I tried calling but you weren't picking up so I just assumed the worst. I'm so happy you're okay! Where are you?"

I did a small smirk, rubbing my fingertips against my forehead. "I'm fine, everything's fine. Axel and I kind of have some things to sort out, but I'll be back home soon. Love you, T."

It sounded like she was beginning to get emotional on the phone, I fought back the tears struggling to escape. "You know if you in some shit, I'm riding for you period."

I laugh. "Yeah, I know you're my go to girl for sure." I look up to see Axel returning with another guy trailing behind him. "—I'm sorry, I gotta go. I'll be sure to call whenever I get the chance."

"Okay, I love you!"

"Love you more." The line had gone dull and ended. I put my phone back into the clutch and gave Axel a worried glare. He comes over to the passenger side and places his hands on the roof of the car, leaning into the window.

"I was able to get a car, now all we've gotta do is find somewhere to crash for the night. I have to head back to Montana and from there, we'll cross over the border into Canada, I have family there who will look after you."
