"Hey you." I giggled, peeking out from behind the kitchen wall at the little boy who fell asleep in my arms yesterday.
I woke this morning by myself. Devon had gotten up and went out with some members of the pack to patrol the territory, looking for anything suspicious. After getting dressed this morning I walked down the stairs noticing that kids were the only people in the house along with some teens. Lacy was in the living room watching tv and asked me to get her something to drink.
"Hello, Luna." The boy laughed and propped himself up on one of the bar stools.
"How are you?" I asked as I went and got a cup from the cabinet, then making my way to the fridge.
"I'm fine! Thanks for letting me sleep somewhere comfortable," he laughed, "instead of laying me down on the floor or something."
I laughed aloud, "Is that what you think of me? Some kind if person putting kids to sleep on the floor?"
The boy laughed, "No! I was just saying!"
I giggle and pour Lacy's glass, "What's your name by the way?"
"Luke!" The boy giggled, swinging his feet back on forth.
"Nice name, I like it." I told him truthfully as I place the oj back in the fridge.
His face lit up and he got down from the stool, "Maybe when you have a baby boy you can name him Luke!"
I smiled and patted his hair, "Maybe I will."
The little boy clapped his hands together and was about to speak when Lacy barged into the kitchen, "Luna! Do you have my drink? Luke, stop! She's my best friend." Lacy ran towards me and wrapped her arms around my leg.
Luke frowned and ran towards me too, wrapping his arms around my other leg, "Nu-uh, sissy. She's mine!"
I deep chuckle came from the doorway and Devon stepped in, "Actually, she's mine."
I beamed a smile at Devon and laughed, "Guys, I can have two best friends! Don't worry."
Luke and Lacy laughed and let go of my legs. Luke walked over to Devon and gave him a high five, "New friend for me!" He yelled as he ran out of the kitchen into the back yard with some other boys who were playing football.
Lacy took the drink from my hands, "Thanks!" She said as she walked out of the room into the living room.
I laughed and walked over to Devon, hugging him tightly, "I love those kids."
Devon gripped me harder and kissed the top of my forehead, "I have something to show you," he mumbled, "let's go to my office."
I faked a gasp, "Am I in trouble."
"Only if you want to be." Devon winked and took my hand, leading me upstairs.
My face turned beat red and I smacked his back as we came to the office. I plopped down on his couch as he shut the door and came to his chair behind his desk.
His face turned serious, "You know that yellow note I had in my hand by the pool?"
I gulped as I replayed what happened that afternoon, standing over her body on the edge of the pool was Devon, his eyes burning red. In his hand was a yellow note. At the same time I looked at him his eyes caught sight of me. He dropped the note and jogged to me, pulling me into his chest, "It was Zach." He growled out.
"Yes." I whispered as I sat up straight.
"Well when we went on patrol this morning I found the note laying by the pool where I left it, I read it that afternoon but I didn't want to tell you, or bring stress to the pack. A lot happened that day and I didn't want to add more stress, but I need to show you so you can protect the kids."
I gave Devon a strange look, "Protect the kids?"
Devon sighed and reached into his pocket, pulling the yellow sticky note out of his pocket. He handed it to me.
The paper was stained with blood and was ripped from being in his pocket. I looked up to meet his eyes, he pleaded me to open it. I crumbled back the paper.
"Hello, WolfsBane pack. Hope you enjoyed my souvenir, something to remember me by. Because I will be seeing more of you, soon actually. You see I have eyes everywhere, Mindy was just one of those sets of eyes. She let our secret slip so I had to end her. Hope you understand. Oh-and before I forget, there will be a war in 2 days time. I want something back that is mine.

(See you soon, Cara)
"We went on patrol this morning and we got news from our allying pack that Zach is staying with the BlackNight pack. He's ready to attack in the morning." Devon whispered now standing beside me.
"So I'm in charge of watching the children?" I asked this question instead because I was so shocked I couldn't ask a real more important question.
"Yes, along with the elder and women of the pack. This war shouldn't take long, we are the strongest pack in the world." Devon grinned.
I gritted my teeth, "But, still! It's all my fault! There wouldn't even be a war if I hadn't of ran! Now I'm going to cause death, this isn't okay!"
Devon gripped my shoulder, "Look at me Cara." I looked up and met his red eyes, "This isn't your fault! Okay? Zach needs to be taught a lesson, nows the perfect time. We're werewolf's, we train our whole lives to protect the human race, and it's been in danger ever since he was announced as Alpha of his pack. This war is doing your people a favor." He kissed my hand.
"Promise me you'll stay alive and come back," I stood up and kissed him, "For me. For us."
Devon kissed me back passionately, "I promise."
"Does the pack know of this?" I asked against his chest.
"Now they do. Dakota is telling them now."
"When will we take protection?"
"Tonight. You, along with other females and elders will be in charge of kids and teens. You are to stay in the underground cellar. No matter what you here you have to stay there." Devon growled out the last part.
I traced my finger across his chest, "Okay, and I promise too."
"I love you." He mumbled against my hair, "I love you so much."
