"Alright. You all good?" Devon asked me as he tried to make me cozy in the dungeon cellar along many other people.

"No." I mumbled.

He took my face in his hands and kissed my lips, "I'm going to be okay. You don't have to worry."

I pulled his hand from my face and intertwined our fingers together, "Stay with me." I pouted.

He laughed, which caused many people to look in our direction. Probably thinking he's crazy for laughing at a time like this, "I wish I could, but that's one of the shitty things about being an Alpha."

"You always have to fight?" I mumbled against his scruffy chin.

"No, leaving your mate." He whispered in my ear.

He stood up and pulled me with him, crushing me into a big hug. I placed my forehead against his chin and exhaled in his sweet musk, "I love you."

"I love you too, baby. I gotta go, stay safe." Devon stroked my hair.

"Promise," I whispered as he started to walk off but I yelled after him, "promise me!"

Devon turned around and smiled widely before yelling, "Promise."

And then he was out of the cellar door and into the battle zone.

I felt dirty and angry as I sat on the floor. It's been 3 hours and there was no word from anyone about the war. It really was starting to piss me off, I tried mind linking Devon but he blocked me out. Other females in the room would let out frustrated sighs every once in a while, they couldn't communicate with their mates either.

Luke and Lacy were laying on top of me in the corner of the room. After Devon left they came and played cards with me, an hour later they finally fell asleep, but they were sprawled across my body. I sighed deeply as I stroked Luke's hair and rubbed Lacy's back.

The cellar was dead silent, most were asleep like Luke and Lacy, some were silently weeping, and some were staring off into space. No one was talking to each other. An elderly couple in the corner were cuddled together, the man was comforting his wife as she cried. It confused me at first to why she would be, but she has a son in the battle, who could lose his life. Because of me.

Luke sat up from his position across my chest and gave me a weary look, "Are you okay, Luna?"

"Yes. Why?" I asked confused.

"Your hearts beating really fast and you're sweating."

I gave him an odd look and then that's when I felt it. The most searing pain ever ran across my chest, resting at my heart. I breathed out and clutched my chest, "Oh my... " I trailed off as I released a scream.

Luke gripped my hand as Lacy shot up from her sleep, a woman around my age with brown hair ran across the cellar floor to where I was. At this time I was crying hysterically. The girl kneeled in front of me and took my hand away from my heart and squeezed, "Is it your heart?"

I nodded, not being able to speak and let out a sob. The only person I wanted to see right now was Devon.

"My I ask you to remove your shirt? I just need a good look of it." The lady said. She didn't move her hands from mine, giving me a sense of respect.

"Y-yes." I stuttered out as I grabbed the hem of Devon's shirt and pulled it over my head.

The girl grabbed my sports bra and pushed it aside to get a look at where my heart was.

She sucked in a breath as she ran her fingers across the black veins that were bulging out of my chest.

Another cry escaped my lips as I reached out for the lady, "What is it?"

"Whenever you mate with someone you two will basically share the same body. You feel what they feel, mentally and physically."

"So what does this mean?" I practically yelled at the lady.

She tore her eyes from my chest and looked at me with sad eyes, "Alpha Devon's hurt."
