"Devon, sweetie. Can you give me a hand?" I was currently holding our 3 year old son, Bradley. I was trying to prepare a room for my 8 month daughter that was yet to be born. Bradley was crying and sliding down my arm, he gripped onto my hair as he was going down, "Devon!"
Devon walked through the door and smiled, "I'm here! Bradley, come on." Devon gripped Bradley and pulled him away from me. Once he was in Devon's arm's he instantly stopped crying.
I released a breath and mumbled, "Turd" at my son, who obviously was just throwing a fit for attention.
"If you go downstairs and get Luke I'll go outside and play with you two." Devon told Bradley.
Bradley let go of Devon and ran downstairs yelling "Luke!" as he did so. Moments later we heard a "What!" from a slightly aggravated 12 year old Luke.
Devon turned towards me and gripped my waist. He kissed me lightly, "Wake up!"

I awoke to the sound of Luke's voice yelling at me. I sat up and looked at him frantically, he was still his eight year old self, "Luna! You're awake!" He yelled as he jumped on me and wrapped his arms around me.
I rubbed my head, "What happend?"
"You passed out after-after you got the news."
I looked at him, trying to search for answers and that's when all the previous events flashed behind my eyes. A tear escaped from my eye and I hugged him tightly, "Where's Lacy?"
Luke pulled away from me and pointed towards a corner in the cellar where a young girl was lying asleep, "After she woke up she saw you crying and- well she can't take it when people cry so she went over to that corner. She fell asleep after you stopped screaming and when you passed out."
I nodded then looked around, people were still lying around sleeping or silently day-dreaming. I wanted to know if Devon was okay, but I didn't have the guts to ask anyone.
"He replied! Charlie replied! They won the war!" A young girl around 16 yelled. She must've been talking about her mate who finally responded to her mind-link.
I stood up and ran out the cellar door ignoring the yells for me to come back. I ran frantically into the woods following the sweet smell of my mate. Many thoughts were running through my mind as I passed dead body after dead body, none looked familiar to me. After coming to a clearing Devon's sent got overwhelmingly strong, he was close. Across the clearing laid a motionless body, blood was seeping from their chest where a big claw mark was dragged down their body. A chill ran through my body, it was Zach. I quietly walked over to his body, his eyes were wide open and the marks across his chest were deeper than I thought. I sucked in a breath as a tear escaped my eye, he's finally gone.
Memories flashed behind my eyes of when Zach would beat me, him yelling at me to shut up whenever I cried out. I also remebered the time where he took my virginty, I wasn't ready for it and I still dread over how it happened. Then happy thoughts crossed my brain as I remebered meeting Devon and how handsome he looked while snow fell around him, and I remebered our first time together and how much I cherished it. I almost sunk to my knees from all the memories, I didn't know where Devon was. He must be dead, I thought.
"Cara." A soft, struggled voice asked.
I spun around on my feet quickly. I put my hand over my mouth and cried even more. Devon was standing 5 feet away from me, he looked horrible. His hair was a matted mess and he had a long scratch across his cheek. His shirt was torn along with his jeans, he had blood seeping out from under his shirt where a long scratch laid across his heart, reminding me of the pain that happend across my chest. I tumbled over to him and clung my body to his, he winced a lttile but wrapped his arms around me. I sobbed in his chest, "I hate you!" I yelled, "You had me worried sick!"
