Chapter 4
Word got around fast that the loner of the school had a famous uncle. If only they knew that the so-called loner's dad was a bit more famous than his uncle. And now, everyone was talking to the loner as if they had been friends for years. I hated it.
I was back in my English class, wanting to leave school. I hated all the attention I was getting. I didn't want attention from my schoolmates. I wanted it from my parents.
"Rumors have been going around," Violet told me as we worked on our project. "Apparently, you're Cameron Venturi's nephew."
"It's no rumor," I told her.
She looked at me, eyebrows raised. "You mean you're actually his nephew? You're not pulling my leg, are you?"
I shook my head. "Nope, he's actually my uncle. Well, not blood uncle. My dad is his best friend and I consider him an uncle."
"And how did everyone find this out?" Violet asked.
"Mrs. Timmons wanted to have a meeting with my parents but they couldn't make it, like always," I said. "But this time, my dad sent my uncle to come. Then Levi and his friends were being how they normally are so Cameron told them that I was his nephew. I hate the attention I'm getting though."
"I'll still treat your normally, if it helps," Violet said. "It's pretty cool that Cameron is your uncle but that shouldn't define who you are."
I smiled. "Thanks."
"By the way, Mrs. Timmons told me that I'll be tutoring you now," Violet said. "What subjects do you need help with the most?"
"Definitely English and algebra," I told her. "And chemistry. Can we meet after school?"
Violet nodded. "After school's fine." She started writing a few things in her notebook, then she stopped suddenly. "Wait a second. You're last name is Bolton, right?" I nodded. "And Cameron is your dad's best friend?" I nodded again. "Isn't Cameron's best friend Austin Bolton? You're......." she lowered her voice so nobody could hear. "You're Austin Bolton's son, aren't you?"
"You won't tell anyone, will you?" I asked.
"Of course not," Violet said. "You already hate the attention just by being Cameron Venturi's nephew. If you don't want the attention, then I won't give it to you."
"Thank you," I said.
"Just one question, though," she said. "Why doesn't anyone know that Austin Bolton has a son? A teenaged one for that matter."
I sighed and shrugged. "I wish I knew. Trust me."

After Violet tutored me after school for a bit, I came home to see my parents stressing out about something. Dad was on the phone with someone while Mon was typing away on her laptop.
"What's going on?" I asked.
Mom looked at me and gestured for me to sit down. "Sending Cameron to the meeting with your teacher was a bad mistake on our part," she said. "People obviously found out that he is your uncle."
"Yeah, and I've been hating the attention I'm getting," I said. "Even people that are normally jerks to me have been acting nice. At least my tutor isn't treating me that way."
"Well thing are going to get worse," Mom said. "Someone in the school must have figured out who your dad is because of your last name."
