Chapter 19

When I got to school on Monday, I couldn't wait to see Violet. I had to tell her the news I got since I couldn't call her on Sunday, unfortunately. The power went down at her house and by the time I was done at the music studio, her phone died.

I spotted Violet at her locker, taking things out of her backpack. I wrapped my arms around her waist and rested my chin on her shoulder. "What are you doing?" I asked.

"Getting ready for class," she said in an obvious tone. "It starts in, like, two minutes. And let me guess, you just showed up?"

"What? No," I said. "I showed up thirty seconds ago."

"Right," Violet said. "Because that's not showing up just now."

"Exactly," I said, even though I knew she was being sarcastic. "So, how are you? Is your power back on?"

"That is important," she said, closing her locker and turning to face me, though I kept my arms around her waist. "What's important is the meeting with the record label owner. Are you signed with it?"

"Am I?" I asked to bug her.

"Hunter, I'm serious," she said. "I want to know."

"I don't know, I kind of want to do something else," I said, leaning down. However, right before my lips was about to touch hers, she moved her head to the side so I kissed her cheek instead. "That's cold, Vi."

"Please, Hunter," Violet said. "Did you or did you not get signed with Cold Sonic Entertainment?"

"Hmm...." I pretended that I was thinking about the answer. "Let's see...."

       "Hunter!"

"Fine, fine," I said. "You are looking at the newest performer of Cold Sonic Entertainment."

Violet smiled. "Really?! Hunter, that's amazing!" She wrapped her arms around me in a tight hug. "Congratulations!"

"Thank you," I said. "And I wouldn't have been able to do it without you. You're the one who showed me my love for music and you're the one who stood by me when no one else did."

"I'm not the only one," Violet objected.

"Vi," I said. "You are. You're the reason I'm making it far."

"Yeah, yeah," Violet said. "You thank me too much." The bell rang for first period. "Class is starting soon, so let's go." She intertwined her hand with mine before pulling me to our first class.

The classes before lunch went by slowly, mainly because I found them extremely boring and still confusing. At least I was improving in the classes. I was no longer failing English, thankfully. I had to work hard, but Violet was still tutoring me and she knew exactly how to tutor me.

When lunch was here, Violet and I went to the cafeteria and sat down at one of the small tables. Sometimes, people would try sitting with us and asked about my parents, which was getting annoying. Mostly everybody saw  my parents when they looked at me.

Cannon sat down with us. "I have a question, Hunter," he said. "If you go on tour, can I come along?"

I furrowed my eyebrows. "Tour? Why would I go on tour?"

"Because you're signed with Cold Sonic," Cannon said. "You'll have to go on tour soon enough."

I scoffed. "Yeah, right. I still have to write songs, make it an album, have people buy it, and a whole lot more before I can go on tour."

"You can always hire a songwriter," Cannon pointed out. "Or get your dad to write your songs."

"I'm not going to get my dad to write my songs," I said. "That will only give everyone else the bigger reason for everyone to compare me to my parents. I want to write my own songs."

"Makes sense," Cannon said. "....Can I still come on tour?"

I sighed, knowing he wasn't going to drop that even though I wasn't going on tour. "Yeah, sure."

"Can I be a back-up singer?" Cannon asked. "Or dancer?"

       "Whatever you want."

"And can I get my own tour bus?"

       "Dude!"

"Fine. What about my own dressing room?"

       "Cannon!"

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Kind of."

I sighed. "Look, I'm not going on tour anytime soon, maybe not at all, so don't ask all these questions about it."

"Just being prepared," Cannon muttered. I rolled my eyes. At least he was being a supportive best friend. A bit annoying, but supportive nonetheless.

I am truly sorry about how short this is. This month is crazy busy for me, so the next chapter will probably come in two Saturdays, not next Saturday.
