Chapter 29
I woke up suddenly when I felt my head hit something hard. I groaned and sat up, rubbing my head as I looked around. I was on the floor of the sleeping section of the tour bus. I should have known I was going to fall off.
Cannon popped his head out of his cot before bursting out laughing. "Ha! What a loser!"
"Shut up," I muttered as I stood up and walked to the kitchen area. Mom and Dad were there. Dad was making breakfast as Mom was feeding Ivy. I sat down beside her and sighed, rubbing my eyes. "What time is it?"
"Seven," she replied. "Why? What time did you fall asleep?"
I yawned. "I don't know. Five?"
"Five?" Mom asked. "Hunter, what on earth were you doing?" Texting Violet, that's what.
"Do we have anything planned today?" I asked, ignoring her question.
"Well, you have an interview at twelve when we get to Montpelier," Mom said. "Then you have an autograph signing, and then you have the concert at night. You should know this stuff."
I shrugged. "I've been forgetting everything."
"Who do you keep texting and calling anyway?" Mom asked. "And don't say nobody because it's really obvious."
"Someone," I muttered.
"At least he's over Violet," Dad said.
"Ouch."
"What, you haven't been moody lately," Dad said. "And I haven't heard her name once for the past week. That's a good sign."
Cannon walked into the kitchen area, rubbing his eyes as well. "How can you look so awake, Austin?" he asked. "I'm tired as hell. I had a nightmare that my boyfriend broke up with me. Oh, wait. that was real life."
"Cannon, can you please stop saying that I'm you're boyfriend?" I asked.
"Why? Is it because I'm not good enough for you?" Cannon asked. "Why am I not good enough?! It's her isn't it?"
"Who's her?" Dad asked.
"The girl Hunter has been texting," Cannon said.
"How do you know it's a girl?" Dad asked.
"So you don't know who it is?" Cannon asked. "Hunter, dude, what's wrong with you? How come you haven't told your parents you're seeing Violet again?"
The entire tour bus went silent then. Cannon just smirked at me before he sat down at the table. Jerk.
"So...." I said slowly. "How about that weather?"
"Let me get this straight," Dad said. "You're seeing Violet again, the girl who broke your heart? When did that happen?"
"My birthday," I said. "After I found out about my disease. I went to her house because I needed someone to talk to and she admitted that she made a mistake and that she still loves me, so we're back together."
"And why haven't you told us?" Dad asked.
I shrugged. "I don't know. Because it didn't come up? Because you've been busy with Ivy?"
"Hunter, she's only a week old," Mom said.
"No, I'm not mad that you guys have been busy with Ivy," I said. "I understand, really."
