After an eventful night out, Hanma had taken the time walk you back home before going off and attending to some "business" he needed to catch up on.
Whatever he was up to, you didn't wanna know, not after spending such a good time with him (but that's something you'd keep to yourself of course).
Besides, there wasn't much room for you to complain. He could've just left you to fend for yourself, and you dreaded a repeat of the last time you were out alone.
But, regardless of all that, you didn't regret staying out with him. To be honest, you'd do it again if he presented the opportunity. That's what you were secretly hoping for anyway.
It even had you thinking that maybe, just maybe, things weren't so bad with him around after all. Being with Hanma tonight, made you realize the world wasn't a black and white spectrum at all. There were hints of color in life, and you just needed a little push to see that.
Or perhaps...needed the right person?
You shook your head from your straying thoughts.
What am I thinking? Me? And Hanma? We barely even know each other!
That's what your mind was telling you anyway. But when you glanced at Hanma, catching his attention as he gave you his bright, toothy smile that made your stomach flutter and your shoulders light as air, your heart told you you knew more than anyone else did and that was enough reason for you two to happen.
I could get to know more about him if I really wanted to, right?
You blushed and diverted your attention away from Hanma, causing a small laugh to trickle from him.
Once you arrived home, the comfortable silence between you two soon dulled, turning into an awkward exchange of "thank you's" and "you're welcome's"
Hanma clears his throat while scratching the back of his neck, his eyes casted away to the side.
"Well, I better get going." he mumbles, stealing quick glances of your disappointed reaction at his announcement.
Despite your tired body, you still hoped Hanma would consider staying the night at your place. Sure you both lived right next to each other, but it seemed different when you were near him. You felt...safe?
Yeah, in a sense I could put it that way.
However, feeling too chicken to say anything, you bit down on your lip and held your peace, eventually bidding Hanma goodnight.
"Make sure to lock your doors!" he called out as he walked away.
You rolled your eyes, a smile creeping at the corners of your lips at his little quip.
Closing the door behind you, you let out a deep breath you didn't realize you had been holding as you slowly slid down against the door.
I hope he was right about all that wishing crap.
Little did he know that you wished to know more about him.
Two weeks later...
It was Monday and today was, thankfully, your day off. You've spent the whole day with Midnight in your arms as you lounged around in the confines of your couch as you've repeatedly checked your phone for the millionth time in the row.
Ever since you went out with Hanma you've been yearning for him to reach out to you, yet after he had dropped you off he hadn't said a single thing to you and it was driving you up the wall.
What especially weighed on your mind was that night you still replayed the events of you kissing Hanma on the cheek.
Just what was I thinking?!
A part of you argued it was just the heat of the moment, but deep down you knew it was more than that. You felt something you had never felt before with him. And ever since then, Hanma has been living rent free in your mind.
You groaned, ruffling your hair as you internally cringed at the thought of him and the way he embraced you that night. He was just so warm...
Quickly sitting up, you slapped yourself on both cheeks, head shaking vigorously.
Get it together l/n! This man has not only ghosted you once, but twice now! You can't allow yourself to fall for his contagious smile, or his crazy way of thinking, or the fact that he's basically a walking radiator with a six pack hidden underneath his-
You couldn't help but let your heart do the talking as your mind wandered deep within your sudden desires. You couldn't help but blush at the thought of being held against Hanma's strong chest once again.
Ding!
Huh?
Snapping out of your daydreaming you quickly shift and stumble around as you desperately search for your phone, causing Midnight to whine in annoyance as she dashes off the couch.
I just had the damn thing!
As if your life depended on it, you frantically search between the cushions until you had finally fished out your phone from between the crevices of your couch.
You settled down on the floor, quickly opening your messages to find that there was, indeed, a message from him.
Jerk-Face Reaper: Yo, long time no see.
Yeah, no kidding jerk! I missed you!
You: I'm not fond of this whole disappearing-without-saying-a-word routine. Where have you been??
You chewed on the side of your lip as you anxiously wait for his response as the three dots on the bottom corner of your phone appears.
What if I'm being too nosy?
Ding!
Jerk-Face Reaper: Do you really wanna know?
Damn.
Could you be a coward and tell him no? Yes. Yes you could. But, then why make a fuss about not knowing anything about him?
You sighed, rubbing the side of your head with your hand as you clutched your phone in the other.
"You won't know unless you give it a try!"
The words of Hanma's advice rang in your mind and you couldn't help but press your lips together in a frown.
Screw it.
You: You owe it to tell me at least. How many times have I patched you up now?
You continued to chew on your lip, this time harder, tasting the slight hint of copper on your tongue as you kept your eyes glued to your screen.
Jerk-Face Reaper: Are you free tonight?
You glanced at the time on your phone that read 9 PM and swiftly began to type.
You: I can be ready in ten.
You swiftly stood up and rushed to your room, hastily tossing around some old clothes to put together to go out.
Ding!
Stopping your actions you glance at your phone once more, eyes wide with shock at Hanma's response.
Jerk-Face Reaper: Great, I'm outside your door waiting. Don't take too long~
You couldn't help but feel your heart jumpstart at the thought of seeing him once again.
