Chapter Thirteen

Once Serena was done scaring her father, her father set up plates for the three of them before they sat at the kitchen table. Arthur and Serena on one side and her father on the other side. It was silent for most of the dinner before her father broke the silence after placing his fork down.

"Serena, I want to apologize for how long its taken me to realize that I needed to get you out of there. You shouldn't have had to deal with Alice being a Nat towards you."

Serena gave her father a blank look. "Dad, as much as I know you wish that it was the case. You know full well that it wasn't her being her usual git self. It was her getting revenge on me actually sticking up for myself, she hated the thought of not being able to torment me and use me as she wished. I realize that I shouldn't have gone with it, but at the time I was emotionally messed up, and I will say and admit to it now that I probably shouldn't have done what I did to her. But with her provoking me as she did she deserved what I did to her." Serena said seriously

Both her father and Arthur looked to her in shock. "Wow, I didn't hear your voice glitch to whining when you spoke...You really have matured haven't you Serena?" Her father asked

Serena placed her fork down and crossed her arms as she leaned back against her chair. "Who else was going to feed everyone, making sure every chore was done and keep the house looking like it hadn't been touched?"

"That'll explain what I walked into...you can see the difference from when you were there to how it is now. Serena, as long as you work and go to college or do one of the two you won't have to do anything here. That goes same for you Arthur."

"He goes to school with me dad, its how we met." Serena said before Arthur could talk.

Arthur wanted to object to what Serena said but he knew she had to keep what he really was a secret.

"Oh, I see...that'll explain why he was so worried about you."

"W-Well a-actually dad." Serena said blushing and looking away

Her father laughed and held his heart. "Oh my! You two are a good couple! I can't wait to see how this turns out!" Her father said laughing

"D-Dad!" Serena whined as she placed her hands over her face.

Arthur couldn't help but smile at the relationship between Serena and her father. He saw nothing wrong with it, the relationship between the two of them was a strong one and he knew he just had to figure out how to get the others to see the side of Serena they didn't see.

The first night in peaceful sleep Serena was happy to be where she knew she was safe, she woke up around seven am to go to her classes leaving both her father and Arthur alone. She found her school things before she saw what street she was on, she looked around to see that she wasn't far from her college at all. So she walked alone to the college and she went through her classes like she should have only to have most of her teachers not even be there.

She stayed at the school until closing just to do her home-work that way when she got home she could just spend time with Arthur and her father. When Arthur he woke up alone, he knew that Serena had school for the morning and afternoon so he had a sociable conversation with her father to get an idea of what type of family he was dealing with.

"Mark, if you don't mind me asking...Do you have any idea on why your elder and younger children are rude to Serena for?" Arthur asked curiously

"Ahn...You've noticed? I'm not quiet sure when it started to happen but to be honest with you its been that way since Serena was ten years old. Her mother was an idiot and had been blunt with her and her siblings while I was at work once. Serena had a nervous break down when I came home because she didn't want to live if she was a mistake. I had reassured her then that she wasn't but I don't believe that she had believed me. Mainly because after that day her siblings all treated her differently. She stopped caring about what they did and said after what happened between Alice and her."

Arthur was silent for a moment before he got up taking care of his tea cup. "I think I'll talk to those guy...maybe I can find a way for them to be a bit more nicer to her."

"Good luck with that, honestly you are going to have a hell of a time since most of them are very ignorant and stubborn."

"I'll find a way around it." Arthur said before he left.

He went five blocks and up a hill to where Serena used to live with her family only to knock on the door. When he opened the door only to see Alice at the door with her face tear stained.
