"I'm doing it! I'll watch the final game!"

Today was the day that Y/n decided to work up the courage to go to a volleyball game. However, this wasn't just one ordinary volleyball game, it was the game to decide whether or not Aoba Johsai will make it to Nationals.

She decided to do this for one thing, and that was to support her one year crush, Oikawa Tooru.

"I get that you're in love with the guy, but do I have to tag a long?" Amethyst, Y/n's friend from elementary, questioned. Amethyst wasn't deep into volleyball, she only supported it since her best friend loved the sport.

"I need you to come with! What will happen if you don't?" Y/n begs and pleads, trying to convince her friend. "You'll watch the game," Amethyst replied with a bored expression. Y/n frowned. The two had a staring contest until one broke.

"Fine! I'll go, but only because I want to take a picture of your dumb face when you're goo goo gaa gaa over Mr. Pretty face." The proud girl said, achieving something out of this misery of a game. "Thank you!" Y/n jumped on her, giving the roughest bear hug one could give.

At the game

The two girls find a place to sit, however Y/n soon left to go to the bathroom. "Already?! The game hasn't even started. Hell, you haven't even sat down!" Amethyst began to rant on about how early Y/n had to go to the restroom. The game was going to start in 17 minutes, that's enough time, she thought.

"Just go you..." She was soon cut off by the girl running out towards the restroom.

As Y/n washed her hands, she could hear a familiar voice in the hall, along with another. "Hey Oikawa, hurry and take your piss, the game is about to start." A low and annoyed voice said. Oikawa? Should I... talk to him? Y/n began to think to herself.

What would I say? Hello? I've had a crush on you for a year and now I want to tell you? Like hell! .... Should I wish him luck?

"Iwa-chan, do you have to be so cruel to me? I was only going to the restroom." Oikawa cried. He then sauntered over to Iwaizume to give him a peace sign. "Oikawa?" A female voice came from behind him. He turns around, finding a girl to be about a foot shorter than him. "Well aren't you cute! You called?" He said with a large grin. He wasn't flirting, but he wasn't rejecting her presence either.

"I uh.. wanted to wish you luck," she stammered with her words. He stared at her for a while before asking "Where will you be?" We're actually keeping a conversation going. "Behind our school banner," this time she spoke with more confidence. She then noticed the guy to Oikawa's right. "I'll be looking for you...?" the setter said, waiting for the name of this small, cute girl. "L/n Y/n. Also, good luck to you too, Oikawa's teammate." She then left, blushing with her heart racing. I talked to him! I actually spoke to him..

"Farewell Y/n~chan!" Oikawa yelled romantically, as if he were romeo. She only ran, and blushed, more. "OIKAWA'S TEAMMATE? Not even your FRIEND?" The spike-haired boy yelled while the other laughed his ass off.

"Did you take a shit or something?" Amethyst said bluntly, looking curious. However, Y/n couldn't reply, as she was a blushing mess. "You okay girl? Do I need to get you water or something?" She continued to ask questions, but all she could get was a loud, long, love-filled, sigh.

After the game

They lost, but against a powerhouse school, who wore purple uniforms. When the game ended, the two teams shook each and every hand. The third years of our school began to tear up, knowing they couldn't make it to nationals for their last year of high school.

"I knew they weren't that good," Amethyst said with a smirk and her arms crossed. "Don't be so cruel! They just lost." She defended them, mostly Oikawa, against her. Although she tried to defend them, she knew deep down that they still lost. Maybe next year will be better.

After a couple of weeks of getting to know Oikawa, Y/n learns that the teammate was actually his best friend, and his name was Iwaizumi Hajime. She became closer with the two, eventually meeting Hanamaki and Matsukawa.

Once it was the final day of school, Y/n chose to confess her love towards Oikawa....

"Y/n~chan! You wanted to meet me here?" Oikawa said with a smile once he saw her. They had met near the library, where there was sure to be no one. "Yes, I wanted to talk to you about something, Oikawa.." She began to fidget with her fingers, swaying back and forth in place. "I told you, didn't I? You can call me Tooru." But are you willing to allow me to call you that after this? What will happen... "Right. I wanted to say that..."

Everything was silent, only the wind through the halls could be heard. There stood the setter, shocked by the words slipping from her mouth. She couldn't hear anything except the ringing of her ears.

Y/n looks down after losing breath from her confession. Her heart was racing, she felt as if she were choking, and she couldn't breathe.

"Y/n.." He began, but she knew from his tone what was coming. He looked terrible, his eyes filled with guilt. "I love you, as a friend. I can't imagine myself with you though." There it was. Although she knew it was coming, her heart continued to shatter to the smallest bits. "You're just too... chubby for me! Wait, no that's not it.. You're just not my type of pretty is all. I think you're cute, but since I can't return your feelings, how about we.." He stopped, hearing the sniffles from the girl in front of him.

Too chubby? Not his type of pretty?

"I.., Y/n I'm sorry," Oikawa apologized, reaching out to wipe the tears from her face. She stepped back. "I'm not your picture perfect girlfriend or something?" Y/n spoke, finally, looking up with hate and sadness in her eyes. "I mean.." He began to talk once more.

"Alright shittykawa, that's enough." A low voice comes from the corner. Iwaizumi?

"Iwa-chan, this isn't your business. I told you to wait outside for me." Oikawa said with frustration.

"You took too long."

"You're always like this with fan girls," Oikawa said, as if this had happened a ton of times.

Am I just another fan girl?

"Because we all know you're not going to do shit with them. Just let them go have their own lives to worry about rather than your pretty face."

Footsteps. Someone was running away from the tense conversation between the two boys. Y/n.

"Look what you did now Iwa."

From that day forward, Y/n wasn't going to let Oikawa... no, let any boy get her attention. Better yet, she was going to get their attention.
