!! I don't know anything about soccer, feel free to correct me. I only know hockey (and volleyball) so I'll be basing my knowledge off of there. !!

" Oikawa rushed the rest of his packing and began to walk out the door. 'She was hurt...' He stopped to turn to me, 'she.. you..' Fuck, where are my words. 'If she was really hurt badly, she would have come to me, not to you.' And with that he walked out of the door. "

Iwaizumi's POV
Through the rest of the week, Oikawa continued to ignore me, but also Y/n. I really messed up, huh? I looked at my desk, mad at myself, I'll explain today. I turned to Matsukawa, "tell Oikawa I'm not going to be at lunch with you guys, he can eat with you." He looked at me as if I were crazy.
"You do know you won't have anyone to sit with, right? I mean, at least Oikawa has some fan girls to talk to.. you... well..." Ouch, he had looked to the side at his last few pauses.
"I get it, but it's a trick."
"He won't like that, you know he doesn't want to talk to you."
"Exactly, that's why I'm having you tell him to sit with you guys. We've fought when we were kids, everything will be fine."
"Not over a girl."
The bell rang as soon as he said his last sentence, raising up to talk to Oikawa. Thanks, I mentally thanked him. I quickly left to wait for the right time at lunch. "Iwaizumi."
I turned to the voice, Y/n. What was she doing at my class? She wasn't looking at me, why wasn't she looking at me? What am I saying, I already know why.
"I'm sorry about ruining you and Oikawa's friendship," she apologized. My eyes widened, why would she ever think that. "No don't be sorry, it was my fault. I should be saying sorry about.. that."
All of a sudden, footsteps approached us, behind Y/n. "Yeah, it's his fault. All you did was give a jacket," Amethyst placed her arm around Y/n, rolling her eyes. I groaned at her appearance, of course she's here.
"Listen here, bud, you aren't to be talking with my precious Y/n. Got it?" We stared each other down until one of us would break. We didn't even blink.
"Amethyst, can you just come down to lunch now? I know you don't want to deal with this," Y/n dragged her friend out. I won. I stared as Y/n (and Amethyst) walked away towards the stairs. Alright, now I had to apologize to Oikawa.
I knew this wasn't going to be easy, especially once I saw him talking to his fangirls. He wouldn't listen to me before, how would I get him to listen to me now? "Oikawa, can I talk to you?" He ignored me, just as expected.
I grabbed his wrist and pulled him outside, into the school courtyard. "What the hell do you want Iwaizumi?"
"To apologize."
"Too late!" He nearly escapes, but I pull him back.
"I don't know why I did anything like that, I should have talked to you first. I should have told you everything. Before you walk away again, at least let me explain what happened."
He stared at me, as if he wanted to cry from his broken heart. I knew what I did, and he knew I meant my apology. "Go ahead."
I had explained what Y/n had told me, about how Oikawa's confession hurt her feelings. I also explained about what I've been experiencing lately, constantly looking at Y/n, feeling terrible whenever Oikawa ranted about how much he loved her and how she might've loved him back. I explained it all, and as I did, his face dropped.
"I didn't mean to hurt her.." He muttered under his breath. The bell then rang, it was already time for our next class.
Honestly, the entire apology was a lot easier than expected. I thought I would have to fight him for it.
OG POV
Y/n had attended soccer practice while Amethyst was in her student council club room, cheering her best friend. The soccer team didn't have a normal practice, they had a practice game.
The Aoba Johsai had a great soccer team, but not the best. They were going against a lower ranked high school, so the win would be easy. Because their opponent was considered low, the coach had the first years play. This would be their first game to officially play, rather than being bench warmers.
Iwaizumi would have normally went to watch the game, but he had practice himself.
"You two seem in a better situation, did you work it out?" Matsukawa spoke from behind them. They both turned around to look at their friend, as if he didn't know the plan. "I'm just glad it's not going to be awkward silence, and that Oikawa isn't mad at me for giving Y/n my..." Kindaichi began to speak as well, only to be stopped by Oikawa's glare. Oikawa then smiled once he stopped talking. "Okay.."
. . .
The volleyball practice had ended earlier than expected, allowing Iwaizumi to watch the soccer game. "Iwa~chan, I'm going to tag along. I can't wait to see Y/n," Oikawa said dreamily, fantasizing his interaction with his one and only. Whatever, Iwaizumi thought to himself.
The game was nearly over, only a few seconds left on the clock and they were tied (so much for low ranked). The two rushed to the closest seats. Aoba Johsai had control over the ball, having it stolen here and there.
Ten seconds left. The girls ran quickly, passing back and forth to throw off the team, in hopes their opponent wouldn't take the ball. Oikawa had stopped watching the game once two fangirls had confronted him, showering him with gifts that they didn't even know whether or not he liked. Iwaizumi only scoffed, focusing on the game again. There she is.
5 seconds left. Y/n was ready to take the ball, running toward the goal and signaling her teammate to pass to her. She passed it to Y/n, and they scored at the last second. Iwaizumi jumped from his seat, about to raise his hands, but stopped to the realization people were staring.
Y/n, even though experiencing the cheers from the crowd and her team, saw him jump to her shot. She didn't even care if she won anymore.
He really does like her doesn't he, Oikawa thought to himself, seeing his friend blush from embarrassment. "Good job Y/n!" A girl yelled from one of the school windows, it was Amethyst.
"Y/n, good job on getting that last point," the captain smiled at her. Sierra was enthusiastic, energetic, kind, and especially smart, it was no wonder why she was captain.
Although Iwaizumi wanted to go down and congratulate the team on their win, mostly Y/n, he decided to stay back. Oikawa had agreed, not wanting to bother Y/n after learning what he had done.
"You ready to head home?" Oikawa asked with a smile.
"Yeah," Iwaizumi smiled back.
