" 'Don't you think you're getting too obsessive? If you want to talk to her, she's right behind you,' Matsukawa said. I kicked him under the table. I couldn't blame him, he wouldn't know that he was jealous of her going to the gym for the two first years. 'Ow! What was that for?!' He yelped in pain. Oikawa stood up and went to the table.

'Y/n, do you actually want to sit next to them?' Shit..

[OG POV]

"Excuse me?" Y/n said, not believing what he had just said. "What is wrong with sitting with them? You can't choose who I sit next to." She defended herself out of anger and annoyance. Oikawa only laughed, "I didn't mean it like that at all! I mean, don't you want to sit with me and the others?" He points to his table. All of them looked away, avoiding eye contact with her. They pretended to not know the crazy setter.

He spoke again, flirtatiously, "Especially since we will be going on a date." Both tables cough or choke on their food. What?! They all thought, except Y/n and Iwaizumi. It was silent, and had become awkward. This time I will show I'm at the gym for Kindaichi and Kunimi. She thought to herself, and furiously left the cafeteria.

School was over once again, and Y/n arrived to the gym early. "Oh hey miss.." The coach began, "I'm not here for him." She took out a chair and sat on the side, waiting for the boys to enter the gym. The first to come in were the 3rd and 2nd years, they were there to analyze which 1st years should be on the team, but they weren't able to choose who got in. Once the first years came in, they began to run laps around the gym and stretch.

The two boys had waved to Y/n, and she waved back. The group of boys were separated into teams to play against each other, for the most part they were evenly distributed. Iwaizumi walked up to Y/n and tried to start a conversation with her.

"Hey." He waited for a response. After a while she spoke.

"Hey," she was focused on the games that were played.

Even before the confession at the end of the summer, they had always had awkward conversations. Most of the time, it would feel like he was carrying the conversation.

"Sorry about what happened during lunch. I tried to stop him," he wanted to have her feel better from earlier.

"It's not your fault, I guess." She didn't look at him still.

After a long while, he spoke again. "Oikawa really wants that date, it's why he's been so sour." She looked at him, finally, and judged him for trying to support his friend. She then looked back at the game, she wasn't interested in talking. She crossed her legs, and with that, Iwaizumi left.

Should I just hurry this date already? If it has him get off of me. Y/n was contemplating on whether or not she should go through with this.

While Iwaizumi walked away, he could only think about how much the rejection changed her. She's so much different than last year, she's not shy or taking anyone's bullshit. It's probably for the best, but Oikawa really did her dirty didn't he.

During the water break, Oikawa came towards Y/n. "Hey," he spoke nervously. What's up with him? He scratched the back of his neck. He wanted to apologize about the whole situation, but he didn't know how. "You don't have to go on this date if you don't want to. I kinda feel bad after everything," he looked directly in her eyes.

Great, now I feel bad, Y/n couldn't help but commit to her word. "Let's just get this date over with." The brunette straightened his back, becoming hopeful for what's to come.

The tryouts came to an end sooner than expected. Kindaichi and Kunimi had gotten on the team and celebrated with Y/n. "That's amazing!" She shouts. "Now we just need to find out whether or not you'll get on the soccer team," Kunimi spoke. She became happier, he didn't talk to her a lot, but he was warming up to her.

They all left the gym and headed home, Y/n called her best friend while on her walk to home.

"Hey Amie."

"Heyy," she was a lot better than yesterday.

"How's your dad? He's better right?"

"He's actually doing a lot better than expected! If he keeps it up, I might come home with him earlier." Y/n couldn't help but be excited with the news. "What about you? How's Aoba Johsai and the dick head?"

"It's... okay I guess. Oh, I forgot to tell you, I met some first years. They're really nice, you should meet them when you come back."

"Oh? Has there already been men trying to steal your heart?" She laughs, hinting the idea that they had liked her.

"Ew, no. They're not my type. One is quiet and another is too awkward."

She laughed again, "Oh well, have you gone on that date with Oikawa yet?"

"No," Y/n sighs.

"You say that like it's a bad thing."

"It's not, I just want it to be over with. Iwaizumi even says that 'Oikawa really wants his date'."

"Even his disgusting best friend is supporting him. Didn't you say he acts like he hates him?"

"Yeah, from time to time, I don't know why he's supporting him now."

"Whatever, it'll be over with soon. I gotta go though, I need to make my dad some dinner."

As soon as she says so, Y/n has arrived at her house. "Alright, I'll talk to you tomorrow. I love you." "I love you too." And they hang up the phone.

Y/n enters her house, her mom wasn't home. She had read a note on the fridge, "I have a night shift, there is some left overs in the fridge. Love, mom." Oh well, I'm not that hungry. Y/n yells towards upstairs, "Mary! Do you want some leftovers?" No response.

Y/n walked up to her room to find her little sister asleep on the floor. She picked her up and placed her on the bed, surprisingly light for an 11-year-old. After making sure she was fully asleep, she heads to her own room. She falls asleep while doing homework.
