"The only way to save her is for you to die inside without her."
"Brother please! Spare her and let her be!"
I could hear Alec pleading with someone.
"Are you willing to make a deal little brother?"
"I'll do anything for her....to save her.... even if that means I will live in torment for the rest of my life...."
Alec sounded broken.
"Save her and I'm yours Fletch."
My eyes opened to a burning bright light.
"It's about time you woke up Eves."
"Kymber?" I asked with a throbbing pain in my head.
"You have been out for a while now." Kymber replied with a smile on her face as if she were relieved my eyes finally opened.
"Where are we? What happened? What do you mean I was out for a while?" the questions poured out of my mouth with confusion.
"You don't remember?" Kymber asked as she tilted her head to the side.
"We were in a battle. You took a pretty hard hit to the head. You've been out for days now. I was starting to wonder if you were ever going to wake up." A nervous laugh followed her words.
I sat up fast causing my eyes to see spots.
"Oh, that was a bad idea... Wait, where is Millie?!" I yelled as my heart started to break.
"I'm right here silly."
I turned my head sharply to see Millie leaning against the door of my room.
I tried to jump up to hold her, a sharp pain caused me to fall back down to my bed.
"Millie, I thought you were dead..."
"You must have hit your head hard. Are you sure she is going to be okay, Kymber?" Millie asked as she thought I was gonna be the one dying.
"Kymber this is all wrong. Millie died. Quinn killed her and Alec.... Where is Alec?!" I demanded sounding crazier than I ever have.
"Alec?" Liz walked into the room followed by Aleena.
"Did I miss something? Last time I checked you and Alec hated each other." Liz cocked her head to the side like I was holding some deep dark secret.
"Are you feeling, okay?" Aleena questioned.
"Kymber please tell them!" Depression took over as I was starting to feel crazy as hell.
"Everlynn, sweetie, nothing happened. You were seriously hurt in a fight with a demon. Do you really not remember?" Kymber was trying to reassure me.
"He loves me..." A whisper came from my lips as a tear fell from my eye.
"Everlynn" I could hear the worry in Liz's voice.
"Please...everyone just get out." I closed my eyes as everyone listened to my demand.
"This isn't real...it can't be." I thought as I stood up slowly and worked my way to my bathroom.
I raised my head to look in the mirror.
"Holy hell..." I said to the mirror as I brushed my hand over the bruises covering the left side of my face.
I know this has to be a dream. My hands clenched the edge of the sink.
"If this is a dream, I won't die... I will have to wake up before that happens." I couldn't believe the words that were coming out of my mouth, but I knew what I had to do.
I stood in the bathroom doorway staring at the window across the room. What I'm about to do seems to be a death wish; this is exactly what I needed.
I stumbled to the window, using all the strength I had to reach it. I put my hands on the latch, forcing it to unlock.
"Everlynn are you okay?"
I turned my head to check the locked door as my hands remained on the window.
They were coming back. My misfits, well my imposter misfits.
"Here goes nothing..." I said to myself as I forced the window open exposing the seventeen-story drop.
I climbed out the window, the wind tugging at my clothes.
"No!" Kymber yelled as she forced her way, breaking through the door.
With one deep breath I held my arms out and fell forward out the window.
"Please wake up!" I yelled as I could feel the brisk frigid air rushing through my hair.
I still hadn't woken up as my falling body was closing the distance to the unforgiving pavement below.
"Alec! Please! Please save me!" I yelled with a broken heart and desperation in my lungs.
I looked up at the star covered night sky, rain racing me to the ground, and took a deep breath.
"This is it..." I said as the rain and darkness covered everything in sight.
