"Just let her go. Live the life you have left." My dreams were dark, but voices still seeped through the blackness. "You're only holding me back. Let me go!" Everlynn's voice invaded my dreams as well.

"Knock, knock. Why are you still in bed? Fletch is expecting you in the courtyard to discuss some classified issues with you." Nikita awoke me from my torturous dream darkness and voices.

"How am I supposed to be ready for something I didn't even know about?" I groaned at her while I rolled away from the side of the bed where she was standing.

"Get up!" she nudged the bed with her knees.

"If it will make you leave me alone then I will get up but not until you get the fuck out." I compromised.

"Sure. Oh, and next time you want to drown your sorrows maybe you should pick a smaller bottle. You didn't have to drink this whole container to pass out but apparently you like to over succeed in life." Her smart ass briefly lectured me as she made her way out of my room.

I forced my body to lift up in a sitting position. I tried to rub the hangover from my eyes, but I was failing miserably at it. Reaching under the bed I pulled another bottle of liquor out; I had hidden it from the last party Fletch threw. It was a smaller bottle almost like a travel or sample size. I twisted the lid of the new container and turned it up, letting it run down my throat until it was empty.

"Still trying to take that edge off?" The old woman was back.

"Well, you know just trying to live this life I guess." I spoke under my breath.

"She just needs more time, Alec." she assured me.

"No, she could remember me... us if she wanted to. She broke the last spell so what is so different about this one? That one didn't keep her from me but this one is?" I started to feel the buzz of liquor running through my veins.

"It took her time last time, but this time Fletch is more powerful which means a more powerful spell. Just don't give up yet." Her voice faded yet again.

"Yeah. Whatever you say." I spoke aloud to no one.

I gathered myself up and got dressed before making my way to the courtyard to find Fletch.

"It's about time you got up." Fletch was by himself in the massive outside area.

"You summoned me?" Thankfully, my hair was long enough to cover some of the sun from my eyes.

"Hang over?" Fletch made an accurate guess.

"Yeah, so what is so important?" I tried to get to the point.

"You spoke with Kymber?" His arms crossed, his eyes looking straight into mine.

"Yeah. Yesterday." I answered thinking maybe she did go to him about her suspicions of me not actually being numb.

"She told you about the war that is coming?" He continued to ask questions.

"Yep. Guess we are all going to die soon." I leaned up against the castle wall.

"I don't trust her. I know there is a war coming and I know we may not make it, but I think she will have some part in us all falling." His voice had concern in it, which was not like him at all.

"So, kill her. You think she is a rat. That she is playing both sides, right?" I threw in my suggestion to fix the problem.

"No that would be uncalled for right now. I do need you to get close to her. Gain her trust. Find out what she is really doing. Maybe she will end up revealing something that will give us the advantage of this war." He stepped closer to me as his voice became a whisper.
