Camila.

The girl was my only competition at public school. The toughest of all. But I was still the best, like I worked hard to be.

Now here we are, together again. Except this time, someone is lying.

She looks different. She traded her huge glasses for contact lenses, her hair is blonde—she dyed it. She looks like she's lost more weight than needed.

What people do to fit in.

I was going to give her a piece of my mind, but now I'm pitying her.

Poor thing.

"Camila?"

"Yes?"

"How are you?"

"I'm good. You're?" Oh wow.  She even sounds different.

"Victoria Edwards, the other new girl."

Now she looks like she saw a living monster.

Well, muhahahahaha!

"Oh uhm.....okay.." She said, trying to get away from me.

Not so fast little rascal.

"Yeah, the one on scholarship, that's me."

How I love to torture people. The poor girl looked......ishh.

"Uhm, good for you?"

"No, I should actually be congratulating you camila, you earned a scholarship. I just wish you'd be proud of yourself enough to embrace it. I don't know why you're becoming like this," I said, pointing my finger in circular motions to mean 'all' "I can never know why you're doing this but it's not taking you anywhere camila."

"Of course you say that, of course.  Look at you, you have everything."

Ouch. I have nothing.

"You've never been bullied like I have for looking the way I was born. Everyone has something to say about how I look, how I can't afford this or that. I just wanted to start afresh, okay?"  Tears ran down her face while she spit all that out.

"How judgemental of you to think my life is all pinks and purples."

Pinks and purples?

I need grammar lessons.

"Victoria, you're pretty, you don't need all this." she used my finger circle motions.—copycat– pointing at herself.

"You'll never understand what it's like to be bullied over your looks."

Mum does that to me every day. My own mum.

"You let those things get to you. I get it's a fresh start for you, but denying the fact that you're on scholarship left me as the target. Is this how you ease it? Making someone else endure something they shouldn't just to save your ass?..... That makes you an even bigger bully."

Her feature dropped, realisation sinking deep.

"I.....I'm sorry Victoria, I didn't think...—"

"It's okay camila,  I can endure being called scholarship girl better than you. I just hope that one day, you get to know that loving yourself is all you need to do to save yourself from insignificant insecurities."

"I'm just really ashamed right now."

"I would lie to you and tell you that you shouldn't be, but no, you should be, that's a very shameful move you made. You can talk to me when you feel too alone, I'm all ears ."

I think I finally used the phrase 'I'm all ears' right.

We're getting there.

I left the bathroom after that. I think I can get used to my new nickname.
