falling for the Badboy

chapter four

Yesterday marked the end of the year.

I haven't seen grams since the time mum and Isaac came to forcefully  take me away from her.

It's been months. I miss her so much. We video call each other everyday but that's not enough.

I want her hugs, her cooking, her free chocolate and the comfort she brings me.

This place is sad, filled with people who pretend to be perfect. The only thing that's brings us all joy is little Jake.
I think that without him, I'd have already suffocated to death.

It hasn't been easy living here.
Every time I bring up grams, mum and her husband gaslight the whole situation saying staff like, ' we do everything for you' and I get irritated and just drop it.

But today is the first day of a whole new year. I hope things get better for me. I hope to see grandma more. I hope to see mask guy again.

Heck I wouldn't even know him because I've never seen his face. Maybe he'd say hi, since he's seen my face.

Forget it.

I pick up my phone to call grams and wish her a happy new year.

"Hello" her soft voice sounds our my phones speaker and I smile."happy new year bunny, and I have good news for you."

" happy new year to you too grams. And you know I love me some good news so drop it"

"I've decided to move to sunside, it'll be easier to see you if we live in the same city, what do you think?"

"Grams, I'd love that alot but.....but I know how attached you are to your house, you and grumpy paps lived there your whole life together,  you raised dad there"

"I know honey, I'm not selling the house if that's what you're worried about. I just want to live closer to you Victoria. I made a promise to your dad."

"So when are you moving here?"
"In a weeks time, are you happy about it or you're still worried?"

" of course I'm happy about it. Can't wait to see you again, love you."

" love you too bunny."

Well, maybe this will be a happy year.

"Victoria you need to hurry up, we're all waiting for you downstairs."

I knew there's no way this day could pass without mum arranging something grand.

This family loves flaunting their wealth. I bet there's going to be alot of people.--just what I hate.

Now I'm dressed in some uncomfortable fancy dress that isn't even my style.

Well probably because my style is everything but fancy--and elegant.

It's more on the comfortable casual side. Probably not good enough for a rich people's new years gathering.

I go downstairs, wishing for all this crap to be over. 

"Vicki! Come sit with me."
I smile at the owner of the voice.

"Hey, you look so handsome."

"And you look beautiful, but weird too" he laughs out.
"Ouch jake, you're such a little meanie."
