Several epochs ago, an entity known as Erebus had taken over the body of a god, and attempted to destroy the earth.
In the face of no other option, the other gods were forced to seal him and the entity away in a pocket dimension where it couldn't harm others or it's stolen body.
However, before it was fully sealed, it sent out a message that traveled across the sea of stars and the river of time.
"My faithful servants. In this moment of defeat, your lord calls out to you. Come forth from the depths of the abyss, and find me. In this dimension you shall dwell and live among the weak, for in due time your lord shall return to thee. In this world, you shall find me one. One who is a blank slate, an empty vessel for that which you shall call forth my name and I will absolve this vessel and be henceforth brought into this world in the guise of man."
After many eons, the message had finally arrived to it's destination, The End.
With clear instructions in mind, the dwellers of The End rose from the darkness and followed the essence of their lord in order to come across the current world it has been sealed within.
At this time, mankind had been born and populated and colonized the earth.
And so, the shadows took control of the poorest of these humans in order to disguise themselves, and overtime they found a base for their operations, that which is now known as The Cult of Erebus.
After about 500 years of waiting, they put their strength together and called forth their lord.
Within the confines of it's prison, with every second that ticked by since it was sealed here, it had been exhausting it's strength, tugging and pulling on the chains that held it down for so long, until finally on this faithful day,
They snapped.
It descended upon the earth, welcomed by the warm embrace of it's faithful servants, but because of the unfathomable amount of power that was used in order to break out of this prison, it's form became unstable and it's servants had to create a small chamber of darkness to sustain their lord with, but it wouldn't last long.
They didn't have the time to wait for a vessel, they had to bring one to them immediately.
In order to do this, they must first acquire access to the written records of this world in the form of it's timeline.
Every universe contained its own timeline that is kept as a written record of it's existence.
The Cult deduced that the only one in possession of this timeline would be the god of wisdom, but breaking into his domain would prove to be very difficult.
Luckily for them, in this world the god of wisdom would pick three humans every generation of whom would be his disciples of wisdom. These people were the only ones besides himself with access to his domain.
Time was of the essence, so the cult expended all their resources in order to track down one such disciple, and finally, they found him.
Over the century that had past in this time, erebus' strength had grew back slightly, but it knew it would still need a vessel in order to regain it's true strength in time.
And so the plan formulated was brought into action.
After tracking down this disciple, they followed his movements until he was finally about to enter his god's domain. Once this happened, Erebus hid itself in the disciple's shadow as it entered the domain.
Once inside, the disciple had a task for the day of entering new information into the timeline.
Just as the disciple was about to undertake his task, his body was overtaken by the monster in his shadow.
Once in control, Erebus cast a barrier around the domain, knowing that the god would be alerted once it tampered with the timeline, but this way he can stop him for a brief period of time.
It made haste, searching through all the slick threads of the timeline, looking through every single human that has existed or will exist.
Finally at the end of the search, somewhere in the future, he found them.
A young girl, that was considered the lowest of all humans.
Despite her status as a demi-god, something was broken within her. She had no speciality, and almost no magic capability whatsoever. She was weak and frail and prone to illness.
But most importantly, within her flowed an abundance of black matter built within her very DNA.
She was perfect.
She was the one.
She will be the most perfect vessel for their lord's return to this world.
