A tale from the light

Did you know that light actually coexists with the dark?

Many think that light and dark are mortal enemies forever pinned in a heated battle, but in reality one wouldn't be able to exist without the other.

Especially the light.

Without the darkness the light would never be able to shine nearly as brightly as it did.

The two were forever joined in union and the same was true for this story as well.

Once upon a lifetime many many eons ago, existed a universe filled with bright stars in it's galaxy. Each star shined so very brightly that there was barely any darkness left to show. But with each bright light flooding the sky left very little room for any individual light to shine through.

Among these bright stars lived a much smaller one. Due to it's small size it was the dimmest star there was. Of course because it was surrounded by so many other stars that shined so much brighter, it's dim light barely showed through and it was practically nonexistent.

"That small star" the other stars thought.

"It's so small and dim"

"It's light can barely be seen among our glimmering splendor"

"It's just a waste of space! It's only use is to be absolved in our light and forgotten by the universe"

But even though this star was ridiculed by it's one kind, there was the darkness.

Only in the darkness could the star ever feel unique. Only in the darkness did the star feel loved. Only in the darkness could the star truly shine it's unique light.

Over many years many more brighter stars were made that also came to mock the smaller star, but there was the darkness.

The star was practically cast out of the other's ranks and outcast by it's own brethren, but in it's ridicule was the darkness.

The darkness was it's best friend, it's closest companion, it's only love.

One day the star felt almost out of place in a sense. Almost like it wasn't in it's correct spot. And then another day, it felt even more out of place.

Until it happened again,

And again,

And again,

Until finally it fell out of the sky. As the star fell it looked up upon all it's other star brethren as they mocked and laughed at it as it descended down from the sky.

"If only I wasn't made this way"

"If only I was bigger. If only I was brighter"

"If only I was like them, maybe I might've been accepted by them. By my only family"

But even as the star fell further down and down from the sky, so too did the dark.

Even as they had been given form, so too did the dark follow the star.

Even as they had travelled across the multiverse, the dark never left the light's side.

Even until the dark was banished from the world, the light was by it's side to the very end.

To this day, I still miss the dark. I miss his loving embrace. I miss his arms that would hold me tight and make me feel safe. I miss his lips that would kiss the tears dry from my face.

But whenever I look up into the night sky,

And I gaze upon all the stars as they make the sky so bright,

I am reminded of the dark,

And how he helped me find my light.
