The Shadow who had a Soul

Within the depths of The End, was created the first follower of Erebus. This was the strongest of it's kind aside from itself, and it would act as it's assistant and most devout follower.

However, something went wrong.

During it's creation, someway and somehow a sparkling drop of light fell into The End.

A drop of compassion fell into the mix when the shadow was brought to life.

From the beginning of it's existence, it felt something was wrong, but it couldn't place a finger on it.

For the first few millennias, it followed Erebus and it's army as they destroyed and desecrated universes. It hid it's flaw well, however with each universe that was plunged, it felt an ache in it's chest.

The ache hurt.

It felt like something was clawing at it's chest, trying to rip and tear through its body until it Burt through it's chest.

As time went on, the ache grew bigger and bigger u til the shadow couldn't hide it anymore. Then, it was finally noticed by its lord and it's army.

This shadow, was an abomination.

This shadow, made of negativity and corruption, had a light of compassion within it's depths.

The other shadows ridiculed it. They only felt corrupted feelings, but this shadow felt true and genuine emotions.

Erebus was disgusted at the sight of this. It had decided to destroy the shadow and absorb it's strength.

The Shadow didn't wish to be destroyed. The Shadow wanted to live. In it's desperation, it used it's power to wound Erebus and escape this world.

Over many, many eons, the shadow went from dimension to dimension, running from it's tyrannical leader. With each adventure, the shadow bared witness to many feelings of the beings that dwelled in each universe.

Happiness,

Sorrow,

Excitement,

Depression,

Anxiety,

And love.

Each of these feelings swirled inside the shadows chest and it felt.. good.

It felt good to feel these emotions. The Shadow wished to keep feeling these things for as long as time exists.

However, with every universe the shadow went, Erebus was never too far behind.

It followed the shadow's tracks across the sea of stars, but the shadow was relentless in their pursuit of freedom.

One day however, when Erebus had caught up to the shadow once more, this time it had the shadow surrounded. With its strength in decline after running for so many millenia and fearful for it's life, the shadow tore a wormhole through the fabric of the universe and entered it, sealing it up before Erebus could make contact with it.

While inside the wormhole, Erebus could not find a trace of the shadow's essence to track it down, and as such, he gave up the chase. It didn't matter if the shadow escaped for now.

It will emerge back once more someday, and when it does, Erebus will not make the same mistake twice.

Time had no definition within the wormhole. The shadow didn't know how long it had been inside, or if it'll find a way out, but it had to push forward.

What felt like seconds inside, turned into millenias outside. After an indeterminable amount of time, the shadow finally, finally made it's way out the wormhole and into another dimension.

Mayhaps, it was finally free of Erebus and it's terror, mayhaps it no longer needed to run, not that it mattered in any case, for it had already exhausted all  it's strength.

Even if it wanted to, it no longer could run.

It thirsted for freedom, for life, but with no more ability to move it's own body, the shadow crashed down onto the main planet of this dimension.

When it came in contact with the planet, the first thing it touched was the shadow of a newborn baby girl. With that, it's physical form dissipated into the girl's shadow, and it's consciousness fell into an eternal slumber.

One day, the shadow was once more awakened from a flowing surge of unstable power in the girl's being.
