Chapter 9: Armageddon, Part 3

With Barry

Barry was looking at the guy, who Dean learned was named Jefferson.

Jefferson says "Injustice? Damn. Look, Barry, those protocols are a one-way trip. A bad one."

Barry says "I know that."

Jefferson says "All right, all right. Just take a deep breath. Tell me what happened."

Barry says "In the last 24 hours, I've lost my job, my home base. I've started having blackouts."

Dean says "He destroyed his apartment at superspeed. He attacked his team, his family."

Barry says "Jefferson, I attacked innocent people, dozens of them, and I don't remember doing it. I'm out of control!"

Jefferson says "Easy. In my experience, there's almost nothing that can't be undone, but I'm gonna need you to calm down for me."

Barry shouts "Calm down? I'm losing my mind! Look, you know the contingency plan. The Injustice Protocols were put into place for a reason, to protect the world when one of us goes rogue. It's happening, Jefferson. You have to take away my powers."

Dean asks "Are you sure, man?"

Barry says "I'll still have powers. Just just not Speed Force or Strength Force."

Jefferson says "Look, we need to call in the others."

Barry says "We don't have time."

Jefferson says "No, no. Kara, J'onn, Sara-- we all designed this plan together after Faust."

Barry shouts "And we all made the same promise. If anyone ever lost control, a designated teammate would step in. For me, that's you."

Jefferson said, "And I don't carry that weight lightly. What if this is all temporary? What if your mind starts healing?"

Dean says "It's--it's not gonna heal. It's only gonna get worse."

Jefferson asks "But how can you say that for sure?"

Barry holds his hand as he looks away from Jefferson.

Barry says "I forgot Joe died."

Barry turned to Jefferson and said, "The man who raised me... he passed away six months ago, and I can't remember it at all. Look, I know you have questions, but I'm losing myself. You took an oath, that if I ever said the word 'injustice' you'd listen. Please. We have to do this now."

Jefferson says "My father had a saying, one that I even teach my students today. 'Where's the future'? Right here. 'Whose life is this'? Mine. 'What are you gonna do with it'? Live it by any means necessary'. So don't worry. I will honor my promise. I will do whatever is necessary to keep folks alive. But remember... when we take away your powers, they are gone permanently."

Barry nods.

Dean says "I can't believe you're doing this."

Barry says "You didn't want to use Azrael's blade on me. So this is the only other way."

Jefferson asks "Azrael's blade?"

Dean says "It's a blade of the celestials. It wipes souls from existence and he made me promise that if he went too far, that I should use it on him and eradicate him from existence."

Jefferson says "What? Why would you do that?"

Barry yells "I hurt Chloe, Jefferson! He should have used it when I hurt her."

Jefferson says "No, he was right to not use it. Erase you from existence? That's a little too far, Barry. You need to live your life, not erase your life."
