Laura's POV

Over these past few days, Carmilla has taken care of me and my massive head laceration along with the bruises...the LOADS of bruises caused by the rocks may I add, NOT Carmilla. I repeat: NOT CARMILLA.

She's been a cute—I mean—just a little nurse for the past few days, and she's been the sweetest. Soup, ibuprofen, rewrapping the bandages for my head, making sure I'm cozy and comfortable...she's been amazing...

...okay...maybe some of my feelings have kind of been resurfacing for Carmilla.

...okay, fine. They were always there...they never left.

It's just...I don't know. I'm scared. For her and myself. I broke her trust, and I made her feel like shit over being a heroic vampire. Honestly, I'm the reason we broke up, and I don't want to ruin our friendship and hurt her again. And also...I'm 99% sure the minute we get back into a relationship we're probably maybe most likely going to...you know. I mean, the friends with benefits thing we got going on is one thing, but being in a whole blown relationship is another...but, I guess also kinda have to consider that—given that we might die sooner than later—I should probably tell her how I feel.

But for now...I'm staying quiet and enjoying the special treatment.

Carmilla was currently making me tea, and I was wrapped in the cozy blanket she tucked me into.

I secretly had eyes on her, admiring her beautiful hair, movements, and just everything.

Aww, I lo—no.

She poured my tea into my mug and walked over to give it to me.

She put it on my coaster on the small makeshift table/nightstand or whatever you want to call it beside me.

"Thank you." I picked up the tea and took a sip, snuggling into its warmth.

"Course." Carmilla shot back, smiling.

God, she's so pretty.

I smiled and set my mug down.

"I tried again today, couldn't get anything." Carmilla sighed as I sighed with her.

"I mean, killing a person is one thing, but cutting off the WiFi and our devices?! That's just cruel."

She laughed as I laughed with her.

She had been trying for the past few days to get a signal or to at least get one of the devices on, but we couldn't get squat.

I held my knees closer to me, and Carmilla sat on the newly vacant space on the couch. We looked into each other's eyes, just spacing out into them.

"I miss you so much, Carmilla. I'm so sorry I haven't said anything sooner, but I want to get back with you. I'm sorry for being such an insensitive idiot, and I don't want to hurt you like that ever again. I really care about you, and you mean the world and more to me." ...is what I wish I could say.

But...I don't know why but I just...couldn't.

Honestly, I wish we could stay in this moment forever.

But, as always, SOMEONE had to interrupt it.

"Mattie?" Carmilla questioned as she looked over at her, newly poofed into placed.

"Hi, Mircalla...and Laura. It's nice to see you two again." Mattie took a few steps over to us, acknowledging both of us in the room. "It seems you two are quite comfortable, considering the fact that you're going to die."

I immediately adjusted myself so I had my feet down on the floor, taking the blanket off and looking somewhat mannerly.

"We're making the best of the situation, Mats." Carmilla responded while also adjusting herself into a more mannerly position.

"Why are you here?" I asked.

She chuckled. "Oh, you should know why and what I always bring and come for...I have an offer for you both."

Carmilla squinted at her, inquisitively. "What is it?"

Mattie walked over and sat in the chair across from us.

"Well, overseeing the situation as it is...it doesn't look too good for you both, but I can change that. I can get you out of here."

"How?" I asked.

"The prophecy of the spell states, 'To be broken, which should be of the utmost impossibility, the immortal stones shall be pushed by countering immortality.'" Mattie explained.

"And what does that mean?" I asked.

"It means, Laura, that Carmilla has to give up her immortality." Mattie replied, an obvious undertone to her words.

Carmilla stood up to face Mattie.

"What's the catch?" Carmilla asked, "Cause I would've given up my immortality centuries ago if I could've."

"Well, sister, it means that giving up your immortality could potentially kill you. Being a vampire is the only thing keeping you alive right now, and without being blessed with or gifted a heart afterwards by some sort of miracle, you'll die." Mattie went on, "And I'm sure Laura here wouldn't like that."

She looked at me, her glare staring into my soul.

The silence was absolutely clear, and a bit anxiety provoking.

Carmilla looked at me with a sad loving expression, and then back at Mattie.

"She survives...right Mattie?" Carmilla questioned.

"Yes, she would." Mattie replied.

I immediately got up and sped over as fast as I could to Carmilla, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, sorry to break up this little reunion the sequel, but absolutely not. No deal." I said firmly, and even a little protectively.

Carmilla looked at me, not knowing what to say, but having to come up with something. "No, no—Laura, you need to live your life. You're nineteen. There's so much to see and so much to do out there that I know you've dreamed of doing. I've lived centuries. I've done enough."

"I know but you haven't lived, Carm."

Carmilla kind of was hit with a shockwave when I called her Carm and honestly I was too. It genuinely just slipped out of my mouth.

"Well?" Mattie asked.

"De—" Carm started to say.

"We need to think about it." I interrupted her.

"Alright, I'll be here if and when you make a decision." Mattie poofed out of the room, leaving me and Carmilla there alone.

"What the hell was that, Laura?" Carmilla shouted at me.

"You're an idiot if you think I'm letting you die." I looked at her.

"And you're one too if you think I'm letting you die and making me watch it if I don't die myself!" Carmilla shot back.

"I don't care, the lack of oxygen can kill me for all I care!" I shouted back.

"Don't say that, Laura." Carmilla retreated.

"Well don't just think I'm gonna let this slide either."

Carmilla grunted in frustration, running her hands through her hair. "God, why won't you just let me die so you can live your little human life?!"

"Because I—"

CRACKLE! POP! RUMBLE!

"LAURA WATCH OUT!"
