Carmilla's POV
A few weeks later, after a hospital visit and a flight in from Mr. Hollis to knock some sense into me, I finally started to clean up my apartment and renovate it into something a little more modern and just...nicer.
I had already gutted out the walls and replaced the drywall and covered that over with shelves. Shelves and shelves of books, just like she would've wanted.
I put some of my favorites and some of her favorites on the shelves. I put some of our collective favorites on the shelves as well. Where there wasn't shelves, there was wood covering the walls, and I covered those bits of wall with our photos. Our wedding, pictures with our family and friends, and memories that were frozen in time. I replaced all the furniture as well as renovating the kitchen to match with the library aesthetic. I also renovated the bedrooms to fit the vibe too.
Today, I was just cleaning up the bottles of alcohol left behind from when I drowned myself in it.
After that hospital field trip, I was scared to pick up another bottle of alcohol again, fearing something would happen. Not only because of that, but also because I needed to sober up. This isn't what Laura would've wanted and that wouldn't have been honoring her wishes to any extent.
I continued to pick up the bottles, already feeling a bit tired. I looked down at my jacket and smiled, since it really wasn't mine...it was hers.
I kept picking up the heaps of bottles that there were, until I heard my new iPhone ring.
I picked it up, and saw it was from Kirsch.
"Hey big guy, what's up?" I asked with a smile.
"Someone wants to say hi to you." He said, audibly handing the phone over to someone else.
"Are you trying to hit on my boyfriend?!" Danny asked.
Wait, wait, WAIT.
"DANNY?!" I exclaimed in disbelief.
"Hey, loser." She replied eagerly.
If I wasn't sober, I'd believe I was extremely drunk or high.
"How...why...when...where..." I asked, stammering.
"It's Mother's version of an apology for everything that's happened. She turned into a god, her true form, and saw what happened to you that night and thought over everything that had happened, and she and the gods agreed that an extreme debt and apology needed to be paid, so...here I am, back from the dead and alive...not a vampire." Danny explained.
My eyes were wide as I ran my hand through my hair. "I just...I can't believe you're alive...that's amazing!"
"And we're both mortal now isn't that crazy."
"I'd say so, Xena." I said. "You know what? I'm on my way right now to see you, where are you guys?"
"We're at Kirsch's room in the Zeta house, but I think you might want to hold off on that...you have someone on their way to see you." She said happily and mysteriously.
"Well that's awfully ominous, Xena—" I said as soon as I heard knocking at the door.
"You might want to go get that, I'll talk to you soon." Xena said as she hung up the phone.
