twelve

as we get to the restaurant, were the first family here. my mom gives him our last name and he kindly leads us to our table.

I sit down with my mom and Ellie on either side of me.
"excuse me. I've gotta use the restroom." my mom needs and I quickly go to the bathroom. I do my business and wash my hands. I dry them off and pick my phone back up.

I pull my sleeves down some and walk out the girls bathroom. I keep my head down and walk towards our table. once I look at our table, i freeze. of course. my mom scheduled a dinner with devins family. Ellie looks at me guitly. my moms eyes are sad. I can tell pain is in mine.

I walk past the table and out the front door. I know Devin saw me. I hold back tears and lean against the window to the building. I know everyone at our table is watching me. a few minutes later, Ellie comes out.
"hayden, come back inside. please."
"no."
"please, your mom misses you being happy. this is why she did it. she hates seeing you upset or crying. please, hayden. I'll be there right beside you. your mom will too. please, babe." I sigh smd wipe a tear that escaped.
"okay."

she grins and hugs me. I hug back.
"can we start out here for a few minutes?" she nods and I wipe my tears. my phone buzzes and I look at the message.
'you look beautiful today.' it's from devin. I smile slightly.
"ready to go?" I nod and she grabs my hand. I cling to her hand and we walk inside.

we walk to our table and sit down.
"you look beautiful, hayden." his mom says. I blush.
"thank you. so do you." she smiles at me. my mom sparks up a conversation. I look around and notice some little girls at a table looking at me. I smile.
"excuse me." I say. my mom nods but k know everyone watches me. I go up to the little girls.

"hey, girls."
"hi." they grin. "are you and devin dating again?" my smile fades.
"no."
"you should. could we get a picture?" I nod and bend to their level.
"could we maybe get devin?" I nod and text devin to come over here.
"hey, girls."
"devin!" the cheer. I giggle. he looks over at me and I look down. "can we get a picture please?"
"of course." I smile as one of their mom's takes the picture. I smile and walk back towards the table. everyone smiles at me.

"how are you doing, hayden?" his dad asks. I sigh knowing what his dad means. Ellie grabs my hand.
"I've been better." he nods.
"devin feels horrible. he hasn't slept much, barely eats."
"same with her. only eats when we go out somewhere. she stays in her room all day and cries. either sleeps or stares off into space." my mom says. I glare at her. she smiles sadly.
"change the subject please." I mutter. they nod and start talking.

once devin comes back we order our dinner and wait. once the food comes, I barely eat. the conversation we had before devin came, it got to me. I know I barely eat but I don't want to eat.
"you need to eat." Ellie whispers to me. I shake my head but eat some more. half way through my plate and I'm full.
once the night is over, we all pay and head to our cars. I sigh as I feel someone grab my wrist.
"can we talk?" Devin's voice says into my ear. I sigh.
"change and come to my house." I say and walk off. I get in the car and we head to my house. thankfully we found out that Devin's family is staying in a hotel for a few days.

once we drop Ellie off and get to our house, I rush to my room. I take my dress off and hang it up. I grab my shorts and put them on. I grab a shirt and put it on. I ignore the fact that its devins.

I pull my hair into a ponytail. I wash my face and sit on my bed. twenty minutes later, Devin's here and sitting on my bed.

I sigh and play with the pillow sitting on my lap. Devin's in sweats and a T-shirt. hes wearing his glasses.
"I love how you still kept all my stuff. and wearing my clothes I left here." I smile slightly and then sigh.
"you have some explaining to do. and don't lie. I want you to be truthful. even if it will hurt me." he sighs and sits across from me.
"as you know that day, I went to hang with friends. I thought it was going to be me and some of the guy friends but one of them brought the sluts of the school. they were flirting with us. I managed to keep them off of me but then we played truth or dare. being beih stupid, picked dare. one of the girls dared me to kiss Brittany. after that I said I was done playing. I texted you to come and right as I saw you, Brittany kissed me again. I couldn't push her away.. I know I was stupid. I should've tried harder to push her away from me but I didn't. I let it happen. now I lost my happiness. I lost you.."

he's crying now and so am I. I sigh hoping I'm making the right decision. I move to pillow and crawl across the bed to devin. I sit in his lap and hug his neck. his arms wrap around me and his face goes to my neck.
"I can't loose you, devin. you're my happiness. the reason I'm still breathing. I was so close to give up everything. give up eating. give up living. but I didn't. because I know we would fix the problem. I love you and nothing will change that." I say to him.
"so you forgive me?"
"I'll always find a way to forgive you." I smile at him.
"I love you."
"I love you more." I lean in and kiss his lips. he instantly kisses back. I smile and pull away.

I crawl to the to of my bed and he follows. within the next ten minutes, I'm asleep. one of the best sleeps I've gotten in a month.
