Seokjin and Jungkook were eating under a tree. Seokjin cooked some dishes for Jungkook as Jungkook loved Seokjin's cooking. While they were enjoying their food, a soldier told Seokjin that The King was asking for him.
Seokjin, along with Jungkook, went to The King's court where Yeolsoe, The King, the Queen, and Seokjin's uncle (mother's brother) and aunt were present. Seokjin couldn't understand the reason behind his uncle's and aunt's presence.
They disowned Seokjin's mother from the family because she got pregnant before marriage. They never showed up when she was dead. Even though they hated her, she always told stories about them. She even tried to introduce Seokjin, but they declined and insulted her and Seokjin for bringing Seokjin into the world.
Seokjin made his way towards the centre with Jungkook tagging along curiously. "Jah-ah.... how are you? Have you been eating well? Omg, look how thin you are." She fake cried. Seokjin looked at her. While taking a deep breath, he bowed to her. "Hello, Aunty. I am Seokjin." Seokjin corrected her aunty. She chuckled awkwardly, "Ah.. Yes.. Jin. It's been so long, right?" "Seokjin" The King called out. "Yes, Your Majesty." Seokjin bowed "Your aunt and uncle came here to take you with them." The King said. It did not shock Seokjin, as he already understood when his aunt was fake crying. But he didn't understand why. Why go through all this when they hate him?
In contrast, Jungkook felt shocked. He looked at Seokjin, who had no expression on his face. "Are you willing to go with them?" Seokjin was silent for a few seconds. Jungkook was looking at Seokjin with hopeful eyes. "You don't have to go if you don't want to, Seokjin." The King added, not wanting to let go of Seokjin.
"I am sorry to interrupt, Your Majesty. It's not appropriate for an average person like Seokjin to stay inside the palace." One of the Yeolsoe said, standing up.
The King was already having a hard time controlling his anger due to all the meddling of Yeolsoe in his decisions so far. Before The King could say something. "Seokjin might be an average person but remember he saved Jungkook's life, Your Prince's life. Don't you think it's our responsibility to help our savior Bi Hyun Ki -si*?" The Queen said with a small smile on her face. Bi Hyun Ki lost words and sat down.
"Your Majesty. I will go with my uncle and aunty." Seokjin said. Seokjin's answer hurt the King and queen. Even though Seokjin stayed here for a few days, The King and Queen have grown fond of him. They also knew very well that Seokjin didn't want to be a burden to them. The King sighed. "As you wish, Seokjin. But don't forget that the doors are always open for you." The King said.
After the meeting, Seokjin went to his allotted room to pack his belongings. Seokjin took his Appa's sword, missing his Appa a lot.
"Hyung..." Jungkook called. Seokjin turned around. He was in deep thought that he didn't realize Jungkook had come into the room. "Oh.. Your Royal Highness." Seokjin bowed. Even though all the brothers got close to Seokjin, Seokjin never forgot his manners. He even apologized for calling Jungkook's name when everyone was around one time.
"Hyung, why are you leaving?" Jungkook asked with tears in his eyes. Looking at Jungkook like this hurts Seokjin. Seokjin looked outside the door and made sure no one was there. He took Jungkook's hand and made him sit on the bed. "Jungkook...Hyung have to go now so that I can return to you stronger to protect you from any danger." Seokjin said, kneeling in front of Jungkook with his hands holding Jungkook's. "You don't have to be strong and protect me. I can protect myself and I can protect Hyung. So.... don't go," Jungkook said, throwing himself into Seokjin's arms.
Seokjin likes how Jungkook, behaves like his age sometimes. Most of the time Jungkook acts all mature and manly. But now looking at Jungkook hugging and begging him not to leave made Seokjin smile. "Jungkook." Seokjin made Jungkook look into his eyes. "I promise I will return to you, Jungkook. When I return, I promise I will never leave your side again. Promise." Seokjin said, showing his pinky.
Jungkook looked at Seokjin and then at his pinky. Jungkook then slowly locked his finger with Seokjin. "Until then, you have to be strong and study hard. Okay?" Seokjin asked, smiling. Jungkook sniffled and wiped his tears with his forearm. "Okay, Hyung. I will study hard and protect this kingdom and Hyung." Seokjin laughed softly. "Yes, Kookie. Protect me from all the evil." Seokjin said and laughed. Seeing his hyung's bright smile, Jungkook also smiled, showing his front teeth resembling a rabbit.
*There are 5 people in Yeolsoe and every time mentioning 'one of them one of them' is quite confusing so I decided to name them. Here is the list of those 5 'wise' men.
1) Nae Chin Mae (meaning - Truth)
2) Nam Kyung (meaning - Respect)
3) Ya Jung Ha (meaning - One who is rich and righteous)
4) Bi Hyun Ki (meaning - The foundation of wisdom) *leader of the Yeolsoe
5) Won Hyuk (meaning - Radiant)
I just got a flashback of Seokjin's enlistment. 😢😭
