CHAPTER THIRTEEN
[ real life ]❝ LOSING ME ❞

i got up to the sounds of birds chirping outside, basically singing. i knew what happened yesterday but when i walked downstairs, i was surprised to see cora in my living room talking to nick about something. i had just woken up and my mind couldn't process anything that was happening.
"oh, goodmorning ari," matt said, walking back into the living room from the kitchen and standing next to me at the end of the staircase. his hair was all messy, i assumed he just woke up too. "its kinda early for you to be up right now.." he said while checking the time on his phone.
"oh.. what time is it?" i asked him before looking at cora on the couch then back at matt.
"10am." he replied and i was kinda shocked. even after the late night yesterday, i was still up at a decent time.
"oh okay," i said before moving my head back to cora. "what's she doing here?" i whispered to matt, hoping cora didn't hear and think i was judging her (i was).
"i don't know, she kinda just popped up here this morning and wouldn't leave. i've just been kinda hiding in the kitchen waiting for you to wake up..." he said, trying to keep as quiet as he could.
a small breathy laugh came out of my mouth before i started leading matt to the living room. "hey cora," i said, waiting for her to notice me before continuing. "do you need something?" i asked, trying to be nice so she wouldn't go complaining about me to chris or something.
"uh no, i was just leaving. thanks though." she said, in a similar tone she was using the night before when she called.
i nodded, watching her stand up and open the door before smiling at us and leaving. i sighed, it was more of a relieved sigh then an annoyed one. nick looked at me weird, he was sitting on the couch and matt had chose to sit next to him where cora previously sat too. as they both looked up at me with a look on their face that i couldn't really comprehend, i furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
